Like many other countries, India has recently entered the post-containment period. Nevertheless, some sectors, such as tourism, have been slow to resume due to the stoppage experienced during this health crisis. However, India is trying to solve the problem.
A business recovery plan
To ensure that we don't fall back into the Covid-19 crisis, which is gradually easing, the Indian government has decided on a plan. Borders and airways will be reopened in different phases. The first stage began on June 8 and concerns hotels, restaurants, shopping centers and religious sites.
The date for the second, slightly more distant phase will be set next month. This concerns the country's education sector. The reopening of schools or educational establishments will therefore take place in July after the first phase.
The third phase will be effective from August and will affect the leisure and tourism sector. The government has been more demanding, since this sector concerns several nationalities. Due to security measures, the authorities have decided only to relax restrictions in this area. In addition, cinemas, bars, gyms and swimming pools will be authorized.
What about tourism specifically?
Now that the peak of the Covid-19 crisis has passed, the Indian government intends to ease restrictions in certain sectors, notably international travel. As a result, only certain categories of travelers will be authorized to travel to India. In fact, the country had been applying strict measures since March 11, 2020, not allowing any flights.
With this relaxation, certain travelers or foreign nationals concerned can now travel freely. These include businessmen on business visas, medical professionals from abroad and engineering specialists. Technical specialists or engineers working on behalf of another country are also included.
However, they need a new visa. They must apply to the Indian International Diplomacy in their respective countries. Those with a multiple-entry or long-stay business visa must re-validate their document with a competent authority.
The B-3 sports visa is not affected. Moreover, those with a pre-pandemic electronic business visa will still not be able to travel to India.
