Emirates introduces Sara, the robot that can check your visa at the airport

The sky is no longer the limit for Emirates, the flagship airline of the United Arab Emirates. In a constant quest for innovation, it has presented Sarathe world's first autonomous robot dedicated to self-service passenger check-in.

Sara, with a tablet for a face, is more than just a check-in kiosk. She can move around the check-in area to assist passengers in need.

Travelers simply need to present their passport to Sara. After scanning and checking it, the robot prints boarding passes and baggage tags, then takes them to the appropriate baggage drop-off point. A breakthrough that should alleviate the stress experienced by travelers in the hustle and bustle of airports.

According to Travel TomorrowSara is expected to increase record processing capacity by around 30%.

Sara is currently in operation at ICD Brookfield Place in Dubai. Thanks to artificial intelligence, Sara's scope of action is set to expand to include hotel reservation and visa and immigration status management.
