Flybondi is the first airline to supply tickets to consumers in the form of a non-fungible token (NFT).
An NFT (Non-Fungible Token) is a kind of unique digital token, stored on a blockchain that guarantees the ownership and authenticity of a digital object, such as an image, a video, a piece of music or even a tweet.
The Argentine company's program, known as Ticket 3.0was unveiled on March 31, and is designed to give customers greater freedom when planning their vacations.
Travelers can rename their NFT tickets, transfer them to another person or give them as gifts.
Ticket 3.0 is managed by TravelXa Flybondi partner that provides airlines with solutions to improve the traveler experience, and is based on blockchain Algorand.
The aim of this plan is to provide a more individualized and convenient service by eliminating the usual limitations on ticket ownership.
Thanks to innovation and the use of blockchain technology, "we aim to make a positive impact on the aviation industry with this launch"said Mauricio SanaCEO of Flybondi. "Changing the rules of the game is never easy, but we know it's our goal to evolve and provide our passengers with a new stage in their freedom to fly."he continued.
The company does not charge a fee when a customer purchases a bill, but it does charge a transaction fee of 2 % when transactions are made on the secondary market, according to Facundo Martin DiazChief Blockchain Officer of TravelX. Ticket 3.0 is currently in service with the company.
