Fully vaccinated travellers allowed to return to Laos

Good news from Laos! Laos, a Southeast Asian country known for its gentle people and beautiful scenery, has just announced the launch of the reopening of its borders in 2022.

Indeed, the Laotian Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism is preparing to reopen the country to travellers as part of the Lao Travel Green Zone program. Initially, the cities of Vientiane (the country's capital), Vangvieng and Luang Prabang, designated as "green zonesto ensure the safety of travelers and service providers.

To date, only citizens with a complete vaccination schedule. Here are the tour conditions, in more detail :

  • have an entry certificate;
  • have a vaccination certificate dated at least 14 days before entry;
  • have a negative PCR test result for Covid-19 performed 72 hours or less before boarding;
  • will have to use an application to track any exposure to Covid during their stay in Laos.

Once in the country, travellers will be taken to hotels in vehicles approved by LaoSafe (health and hygiene program for the tourism and hospitality sector in Laos), to await the result of their PCR test (available within 24 hours). If the result is positive, travellers will be isolated for three days before being tested again. If the isolation period is longer than three days, they will be reimbursed for expenses incurred.
