Since December 23, 2022, the Laotian government has lifted health measures linked to the Covid-19 pandemic. We bring you up to date on travel formalities.
The Laotian Prime Minister, Phankham Viphavanh, issued a statement announcing the removal of Covid-19 sanitary restrictions to enter and leave the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
Travelers no longer need to present their vaccination certificate or antigen/PCR test, dated 48 hours before departure.

Most nationalities are eligible for the electronic visa. We recommend you apply at least 3 days before departure. This e-Visa will be valid for one entry into Laos, and you can stay for a maximum of 30 days. The consular fee is โฌ50. To apply, check the passport expiry date. It must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival in Laos. You will need two documents to apply: a passport photo and an easy-to-read passport photo in color.
When filling in your form, you will need to know your point of entry and address of your accommodation on site. You can enter the country by air, land or rail.
For most European travellers, a 30-day visa can be obtained in an emergency on arrival in Laos. This Visa On Arrival can only be issued by Laotian immigration at certain checkpoints clearly defined by the authorities.
