Lost/stolen passport: how do I apply for an e-Visa?

Has your passport been lost or stolen, and you're wondering whether you can still apply for an e-Visa? We'll answer all your questions.ย

Can I apply for an e-Visa without my passport?ย

No, it's a compulsory document. A few destinations, such as Egypt, accept e-Visa with a single identity card, for some nationalities.

What should I do if my passport is lost or stolen?

If you are over 18 and of French nationality, you need to make a pre-application and then go to the town hall to provide the necessary documents. The "ordinary" passport, the most common, is the only one that can be used to apply for an e-Visa.

I've lost my passport even though I've already obtained my e-Visa!

You can apply for a new passport, but please allow a maximum of 3 months. However, as your e-Visa is attached to your passport, you will need to apply for a new e-Visa when you receive your new passport.

Can I obtain an emergency passport?

This document is issued only in very special cases. Please note that this passport does not allow you to obtain an e-Visa.
