Following in the footsteps of Kenya and Russia, Mongolian deputies decided to change the concept of visa issuance during their last parliamentary session of 2020. The health crisis linked to COVID-19 has prompted the authorities to consider new methods for issuing visas.
From June 1, 2021, it will therefore be possible to apply for a visa online to travel to Mongolia.. According to the official press release issued by Mongolia's Montsame news agency, the introduction of e-Visa will improve reception and control conditions for foreign nationals.
The only downside: since March 10 2020, the Mongolian authorities have suspended the issue of visas to foreigners. Commercial flights and other rail and/or car transport to and from the country have also been suspended. As in many countries around the world, the resumption of tourist flows will depend on the evolution of the health crisis.
