Soccer fans will be happy, and so will the small Middle Eastern emirate. The local government has decided to extend the validity of the "Hayya"well beyond the World Cup.
The pass, which provides free transport and other benefits, was due to expire a few days after the end of the competition. It will now be valid until January 24, 2024, with no further action required.
Sometimes criticized at the start of the competition when travelers encountered errors in their dates of birth, the principle has since been widely adopted, thanks in particular to the possibility of inviting up to 3 non-card-holding relatives with the "Hayya with me". This remains true today with the extension of the card.
Here are the details announced by the authorities, including the documents required to enter Qatar:
- a proof of accommodation
- a valid passport at least 3 months upon arrival in Qatar
- a health insurance valid on stay
- a plane ticket round trip
