After nine months of closure, Sri Lanka plans to reopen its territory to international travelers by January 2021. New rules will be put in place by the Sri Lankan authorities to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

New conditions for obtaining a Sri Lankan electronic visa.ย

To obtain a Sri Lankan e-visa, you'll need to spend at least 14 days in the country, with a confirmed itinerary.

For a 14-day stay, international visitors will be accommodated in Level 1 hotels, and will be able to stay on the premises and move around in remote areas.

For a stay of more than 14 days, international tourists must stay in a level 2 hotel and will be allowed to visit Sri Lanka's tourist attractions accompanied by an approved tourist guide.

International tourists staying more than 28 days in Sri Lanka will be able to stay wherever they wish by consulting the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority's accommodation listings.
