The Egyptian government has just taken an important step regarding visas for Canadian citizens wishing to visit Egypt. As of October 1, 2023, it will no longer be possible for Canadians to apply for and obtain an e-Visa to travel to Pharaonic lands.

As of October 1, 2023, Canadian nationals wishing to travel to Egypt will now need to obtain an Egyptian visa before departure, the Canadian government has announced, information confirmed by Visamundi teams.

In a recent statement, EgyptAir announced that travelers can now obtain a free transit visa to enter Egypt and stay for between 8 and 96 hours.

A new route between Cairo and Marseille will be launched by the airline from December 16, 2022. 

Egypt wants to take advantage of this period to boost tourism. The African state has decided to make it easier to obtain its e-Visa, bringing to 74 the number of nationalities eligible for the online process.
