What are the new travel formalities for entering the United States?

A new health restriction is now in force, affecting travelers not vaccinated with Covid-19. The U.S. Transportation Security Administration had announced at the end of December that it would reintroduce the full vaccination requirement until early January, but this measure has now been extended. From now on, travelers without a complete vaccination schedule will not be able to visit the U.S. until April 10, 2023.. The aim is to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and its variants.ย

โžก๏ธ Who needs to be vaccinated?

All international travelers and non-US citizens must have a complete vaccination schedule. to enter the United States. A paper or digital certificate attesting to full vaccination will be requested when you board your plane, and on departure from your country of origin. Each traveler must have this certificate, together with his or her personal details (surname, first name and date of birth), identical to those in his or her passport.

This restriction does not apply to US citizens, permanent residents or immigrants.

The U.S. government certifies complete vaccination and recognizes the following vaccines: Pfizer/BioNTech, Astrazeneca Sk Bio, Serum Institute of India, Astra Zeneca (EU), Janssen (1 single dose), Moderna, Sinovac, Covaxin and Covishield.

โžก๏ธ Can I have an antigen or PCR test before I leave if I'm not fully vaccinated?

PCR or antigenic tests less than 72 hours old are therefore no longer required for fully vaccinated travellers.. For unvaccinated travelers, it will not be possible to present a Covid test before your departure, as this measure is no longer current, and you will not be able to travel to the USA without full vaccination.

A few exceptions concern international tourists traveling to the United States from China, Hong Kong and Macao. These travelers will be required to show a negative result for Covid 19 by a PCR or antigenic test. Passengers traveling from Seoul, Toronto and Vancouver, who have visited China, Hong Kong and Macao, will also need to undergo this formality.

โžก๏ธ What restrictions apply to children?

Full vaccination is not required for children under 18. The U.S. Office of Tourism has specified that unvaccinated children between the ages of 2 and 17 should be tested 3 to 5 days after arrival.

โžก๏ธ I have tested positive for Covid-19 and I have a certificate of recovery?

A traveler can only present his or her certificate of recovery if he or she has received at least 2 doses of vaccine. One dose is not enough, and entry will be refused, with the exception of the Janssen vaccine, where a single dose is administered.
