This offer covers part of the costs of travel, accommodation and car rental.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Eligible tourists must be foreign nationals and have booked their travel through a government-approved travel agency. The initiative is aimed at boosting Taiwan's tourism industry, which has been hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Before the pandemic, tourism was booming in Taiwan, with a record number of <strong>11.84 million foreign visitors in 2019<\/strong>This represents an increase of 7.4% over the previous year. However, the COVID-19 pandemic had a considerable impact on Taiwan's tourism industry, with the number of foreign visitors in 2020 down 79.5% on the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>To encourage tourists to return, the Taiwanese government has launched a series of initiatives, including an offer for domestic travel and discounts for tourist attractions.<\/p>\n<p>The Tourism Board has offered to donate 5,000 TWD (<span class=\"currency-convertor\" data-amount=\"5000\" data-currency=\"TWD\">5.000 &#8364;<\/span>) to 500,000 individual visitors and 20,000 TWD (<span class=\"currency-convertor\" data-amount=\"20000\" data-currency=\"TWD\">20.000 &#8364;<\/span>) to 90,000 visitor groups to cover part of their travel, accommodation and car rental costs. Subsidies are limited to a certain number of travelers, and are awarded on the basis of the \"<em><strong>first come, first served<\/strong><\/em>\". The money will be paid digitally, with no cash outlay.<\/p>\n<p>The goal?
