At present, non-Europeans who own a residence in the country are allowed to stay on the territory <strong>only 90 days maximum<\/strong> over a six-month period.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>To stay in France for more than 90 days, you must first apply for a long-stay visa. In this case, your nationality does not exempt you from this requirement. Whatever the length of your stay, the long-stay visa must be for between three months and one year.<\/em>\"says the French government.<\/p>\n<p>This <strong>process<\/strong> visa application can be <strong>long<\/strong> And <strong>complicated<\/strong>. Applicants must go to one of the French consulates or embassies for an interview and to provide numerous documents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Visa application form<\/li>\n<li>A passport valid for 6 months after the date of arrival in France<\/li>\n<li>Two recent passport photos<\/li>\n<li>Proof of travel insurance coverage<\/li>\n<li>Proof of financial means<\/li>\n<li>A complete itinerary<\/li>\n<li>Proof of residence in France<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mme Imbert points out that many owners wish to stay longer in France, and she puts forward the idea of introducing visas with a validity of <strong>five years<\/strong>. This would allow all third-country nationals who own a second home in France to reside in the country. <strong>up to six months a year <\/strong>without having to comply with complex administrative rules.<\/p>\n<p>Also, as part of this proposal, the <strong>foreign buyers<\/strong> who buy a second home in France could benefit from a <strong>special visa<\/strong> allowing them to stay for up to two years at a time. The aim of this project is to encourage more foreign buyers to invest in the<strong>real estate in France<\/strong>particularly in regions experiencing economic difficulties.
