Here's everything you need to know about this new measure and the steps to take, as confirmed by the Kenyan authorities.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>What is ETA Kenya?<\/h2>\n<p>ETA Kenya is a semi-automated system for determining the eligibility of visitors to the country.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ETA applications can be submitted from December 27.<\/strong>Travelers are advised to apply as soon as they have booked their accommodation and transport tickets. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The eVitizen visa application platform should be shut down at this time.<\/span>However, e-Visas already issued will remain valid until 2024.<\/p>\n<h3>Who should apply for an ETA Kenya?<\/h3>\n<p>ETA is compulsory <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">for all foreign visitors<\/span>with the exception of citizens of member countries of the East African Community (<em>EAC, comprising Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, DR Congo and Somalia<\/em>).<\/p>\n<h2>How will the ETA Kenya application process work?<\/h2>\n<p>The ETA application for Kenya can be submitted to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.etakenya.go.ke\" rel=\"nofollow\">via the government portal<\/a> or via a future mobile application called<em>Kenya Travel Authorization<\/em>\". The next steps are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click on \"<em>Apply Now<\/em>\u201d; ;<\/li>\n<li>Select your nationality ;<\/li>\n<li>Download a scanned copy of your passport ;<\/li>\n<li>Upload a scanned copy of your passport photo or take a selfie ;<\/li>\n<li>Fill in the ETA form;<\/li>\n<li>Provide proof of accommodation during your stay;<\/li>\n<li>Download proof of your means of transport;<\/li>\n<li>Select the desired processing time: <strong>Standard<\/strong> (72 hours) or <strong>Premium<\/strong> ;<\/li>\n<li>Submit your request.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After submitting your application, you will receive an email acknowledging receipt and an email confirming payment. Once the immigration officer has made a decision, an email confirming approval or rejection will be sent to you. Kenya offers \"classic\" or \"premium\" (sic) processing, much like private visa agencies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Standard treatment<\/strong> to USD 30$ (<span class=\"currency-convertor\" data-amount=\"32.4\" data-currency=\"USD\">28 &#8364;<\/span>)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Premium treatment<\/strong> to 50$ USD (<span class=\"currency-convertor\" data-amount=\"53.29\" data-currency=\"USD\">46 &#8364;<\/span>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Transaction fees may also apply (approx. 3%).
