{"id":18229,"date":"2024-03-06T08:44:59","date_gmt":"2024-03-06T07:44:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/?p=18229"},"modified":"2024-03-06T08:44:59","modified_gmt":"2024-03-06T07:44:59","slug":"canada-visa-mexicains","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/en\/blog\/canada-visa-mexicains\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada raises visa requirements for Mexicans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since February 29, 2024, the eligibility criteria for the<em><strong>electronic travel authorization (AVE)<\/strong><\/em> are modified for Mexican nationals, accused by Ottawa of overstaying in Canada or using the AVE to enter the USA.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/immigration-refugees-citizenship\/campaigns\/eta-work-visa-mexico.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">If a Mexican already has an AVE, it will be automatically cancelled.<\/a> unless they also have a valid work or study permit. <strong>If your AVE application is being processed, you will need to apply for a new AVE or <em>visitor visa<\/em> before heading to Canada.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If Mexican nationals are no longer eligible for an AVE, they will need to apply for a visa to travel to Canada. These changes apply even if a trip has already been booked.<\/p>\n<h2>3 conditions to qualify for an AVE as a Mexican<\/h2>\n<p>To be eligible for an AVE under the new rules, a Mexican must meet the following requirements<strong> 3 conditions<\/strong> :<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>use a <em>valid Mexican passport<\/em> to travel to Canada or transit through a Canadian airport<\/li>\n<li>have held a <em>Canadian visitor visa<\/em> over the past 10 years<\/li>\n<li>hold a <em>non-immigrant visa<\/em> American.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"entry-content-asset\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"fr\" dir=\"ltr\">Reminder: Mexicans now need a visa to enter Canada. Travellers eligible for the AVE must obtain a <em>visitor visa<\/em> if they are traveling to Canada by car, bus, train or boat (including cruise ships).
