{"id":18285,"date":"2024-03-12T17:05:19","date_gmt":"2024-03-12T16:05:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/?p=18285"},"modified":"2024-03-12T17:05:19","modified_gmt":"2024-03-12T16:05:19","slug":"reception-certificate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/en\/blog\/attestation-accueil\/","title":{"rendered":"How do I obtain an attestation d'accueil to host a non-European foreigner in France?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE <strong>accommodation certificate<\/strong>now called <strong>attestation d'accueil<\/strong>is a compulsory document in France for accommodating a non-European foreigner coming to the country for a private or family stay of less than 3 months.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This document enables the French authorities to check that the person being cared for benefits from minimum housing conditions, and that he or she is being cared for by a person residing in France voluntarily and with full knowledge of the facts. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.service-public.fr\/particuliers\/vosdroits\/F2191\">In this way, the French government can be sure that the foreign individual will not be roaming.<\/a> on arrival, for private or family visits only.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It is not required for people who fall into one of the following categories:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You are Swiss or European.<\/li>\n<li>You take part in tourist activities organized by a travel agency<\/li>\n<li>Travelling for medical reasons<\/li>\n<li>Business travellers<\/li>\n<li>You are joining your foreign spouse or parent (in the case of minor children) who is authorized to stay in France for family reunification purposes.<\/li>\n<li>You are a minor foreign child dependent on a French parent for a maximum of 90 days.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How do I request an attestation d'accueil?<\/h2>\n<p>Application for an accommodation certificate <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">must be carried out by the person wishing to accommodate the non-European foreigner<\/span> in France. To do this, go to the <strong>your local town hall<\/strong>with the following documents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Proof of identity and nationality<\/li>\n<li>Document proving ownership, rental or occupancy of the accommodation where you plan to welcome the visitor<\/li>\n<li>Recent proof(s) of address related to housing<\/li>\n<li>Any document proving your financial resources and your commitment to financially support visitors who do not have sufficient resources.<\/li>\n<li>Any document attesting to your ability to accommodate visitors in normal living conditions<\/li>\n<li>Proof(s) of tax stamp payment<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">For unaccompanied minors<\/span> A written authorization from the parents specifying the duration and purpose of the child's stay is required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Obtaining a hosting certificate is not automatic<\/span>. The mayor's office can carry out in-depth or on-site checks to ensure that the accommodation complies with the regulations and is suitable for the visitor.<\/p>\n<p>The attestation d'accueil costs <strong>30\u20ac <\/strong>and payment is made by <em>tax stamp<\/em>which you can obtain online or from a tobacconist. Some town halls also accept payment by credit card.<\/p>\n<h3>The accommodation certificate does not exempt you from obtaining a visa<\/h3>\n<p>Possession of an accommodation certificate does not exempt non-European foreign nationals from applying for a <strong>short-stay visa<\/strong> to enter France.
