From January 2025, Japan will introduce an electronic pre-authorization system for visa-exempt visitors, starting with tourists from Taiwan<\/strong>. At the same time, the Japanese government has approved a new visa system designed to attract high-income earners and graduates of top universities. This initiative, approved by the cabinet in February 2023, aims to strengthen Japan's economic competitiveness by attracting skilled foreign talent.<\/p>\n

Since 2018, Japan has expanded the areas in which foreigners can work, now covering 14 occupations. Newcomers are classified into two main categories: workers in specific jobs, authorized to bring their families and whose contracts can be renewed several times, and unskilled workers, authorized to work for a limited period of 5 years without the possibility of bringing their families.<\/p>\n

Nationals of 71 countries and territories, including most European countries, who currently benefit from a visa waiver for stays of up to 90 days, will now need to obtain an electronic travel authorization before departure.<\/a>.
