The inefficient management of the chosen foreign service provider had made the e-Visa process complicated, leading to long queues and delays for tourists at airports. In response to this situation, the Sri Lankan government decided to make it easier for visitors to enter the country, and to boost the country's tourism sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"entry-content-asset\"><blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">So, the peak tourism season is about to start, officially as of now, a tourist is unable to get any form of visa to Sri Lanka. A simplified passport stamp method was introduced by the Sri Lankan government, based on the Singapore model, to reduce congestion at visa counters and improve the visitor experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"entry-content-asset\"><blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Today cabinet approved one chop system like in Singapore for the 38 countries with visa free to start with immediate effect , also have given president full authority to execute the operation, this will definitely help <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/en\/destinations\/cap-vert\/\">ease<\/a> the congestion currently faced by tourists.<\/p>- Harin Fernando (@fernandoharin) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/fernandoharin\/status\/1830549909369700703?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 2, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Countries benefiting<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, United States, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Iran, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Costa Rica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>3 other countries have also been added, but their names are not yet known<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Terms and conditions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Citizens of eligible countries can stay in Sri Lanka for up to 30 days under the visa waiver policy. This period cannot be extended under this particular exemption, although extensions are generally possible in other visa cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This simplification remains a test and must \".<em>theoretically<\/em>The \"visa\" expires in 6 months, and visitors must enter the country before the expiry date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Exclusions and Limitations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Certain countries are not entitled to this exemption and must follow standard visa application procedures. Citizens of Afghanistan, Cameroon, C\u00f4te d'Ivoire, North Korea, Ghana, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan and Syria are not eligible for a visa on arrival and must apply directly at the nearest Sri Lankan Immigration Department headquarters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Consequences for the Visa Electronic System<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The discontinuation of the e-Visa system played a key role in the adoption of this new law. Discussions are still underway concerning the return to an electronic visa system or the improvement of the ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization), with decisions expected in the coming months).
