This temporary exemption, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/en\/blog\/22-nationalities-including-the-french-are-exempt-from-k-eta\/\">to be introduced on April 1, 2023 as part of the \" <em>Visit Korea Year 2023-2024<\/em> \u00bb<\/a>was aimed at boosting tourism in the wake of the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is K-ETA?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>K-ETA, or <em>Korea Electronic Travel Authorization<\/em>is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/en\/blog\/coree-visa\/\">electronic travel authorization system introduced by South Korea on September 1, 2021<\/a>. This system enables the authorities to screen and assess travellers before they arrive, thereby reinforcing border security and facilitating the immigration process at ports of entry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application procedure<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To obtain a K-ETA, travellers must submit an online application on the government portal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.k-eta.go.kr\/portal\/apply\/index.do\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">www.k-eta.go.kr<\/a>via <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/fr\/app\/k-eta\/id1562976724\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the \"K-ETA\" mobile application available on the App Store<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=kr.go.keta&amp;hl=fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Google Play Store<\/a> or an experienced visa agency. The application requires several pieces of information, including e-mail address, passport details, cell phone number, purpose of stay, accommodation details, occupation, and a passport photo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"entry-content-asset\"><iframe title=\"How to apply for K-ETA(Korea Electronic Travel Authorization) Full information\" width=\"1156\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uniP4VL3m6w?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The cost of a K-ETA is KRW 10,300 (approx. <span class=\"currency-convertor\" data-amount=\"10300\" data-currency=\"KRW\">6 &#8364;<\/span>), and the application must be completed at least 72 hours before arrival in South Korea. Once approved, authorization is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/en\/blog\/south-korea-extends-k-eta-validity-to-3-years\/\">valid for 3 years<\/a> or until the expiry of the traveler's passport, whichever comes first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The length of stay in South Korea varies according to the nationality of the K-ETA holder, ranging from 30 days to 180 days. <strong>For example, French and European citizens can stay for up to 90 days without a visa.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-gray-lighter-background-color has-background has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Specific exemptions<br><\/strong>Certain groups of people are exempt from the K-ETA requirement. These include travelers aged 17 and under, as well as those aged 65 and over. In addition, holders of a valid visa, holders of a South Korean residence permit, members of the US Armed Forces in the Republic of Korea (USFK), and holders of a diplomatic or official passport who have obtained an exemption from the relevant authorities are also exempt.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Nationalities concerned<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The 112 countries and territories that will have to apply for a K-ETA in 2025 include nations from Africa, America, Asia, Europe and Oceania.
