The trip was to begin with a bus journey to Amsterdam, where the students would fly to Scotland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On their arrival in Amsterdam, <strong>the students and their escorts were stopped by the British border authorities<\/strong> due to a problem with administrative forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ID card and passport numbers were entered in the same section of the <a href=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/media\/6581b33123b70a0013234c34\/France-UK_school_trip_travel_information_form.pdf\">declaratory form imposed by the United Kingdom<\/a>instead of being separated as required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cancellation of the trip had financial and emotional repercussions. <strong>Each student paid approximately \u20ac500 for the trip.<\/strong>Although the school undertook to reimburse the families, the disappointment was palpable. The students had to take the bus back to Bergues, leaving behind their hopes of discovering Scotland's mythical landscapes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ETA: A future requirement for travel to the UK<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the incident involving the Bergues students is not directly linked to Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), it is important to note that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/en\/blog\/these-nationalities-will-have-to-apply-for-an-eta-in-the-united-kingdom-from-november-27\/\">this authorization will become compulsory for European travellers from 2025 onwards<\/a>.
