No more waiting in long queues at embassies and consulates. <strong>Mauritania enters the digital era for visa applications<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From January 5, 2025, the <strong>electronic visa<\/strong>or <strong>e-Visa<\/strong>will be <strong>mandatory<\/strong> for all foreign travelers requiring a visa to enter Mauritania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A visa application made easy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In concrete terms, what does this new system change? Everything is now done online. Travelers must connect to the <strong>Agence Nationale du Registre des Populations et des Titres S\u00e9curis\u00e9s (ANRPTS - National Agency for Population Registration and Secure Titles)<\/strong>available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/anrpts.gov.mr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">anrpts.gov.mr<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here they will find a <strong>form<\/strong> to be filled in with their personal details, dates of travel, and the reason for their stay. <strong>Several durations<\/strong> are available: <strong>30 days, 90 days, 1 year or 2 years<\/strong> with single, double or multiple inputs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"467\" src=\"https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Screenshot-2025-01-06-at-11.31.58-1024x467.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7019476\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Screenshot-2025-01-06-at-11.31.58-1024x467.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Screenshot-2025-01-06-at-11.31.58-300x137.png 300w, https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Screenshot-2025-01-06-at-11.31.58-768x350.png 768w, https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Screenshot-2025-01-06-at-11.31.58-18x8.png 18w, https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Screenshot-2025-01-06-at-11.31.58.png 1329w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Mauritania visa website<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">No more visa stickers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the form has been completed, simply submit it online, together with a <strong>digital passport photo<\/strong> and a <strong>copy of passport<\/strong>which must be <strong>valid for at least 6 months<\/strong> after the date of entry into Mauritania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the application has been approved, the sesame, in the form of a <strong>e-Visa with QR code<\/strong>arrives directly in the traveler's mailbox. All that remains is to print it out and present it to the authorities on arrival in Mauritania. Payment of the visa fee, which ranges from \u20ac55 to \u20ac270 (Mauritania grants discounts to African and Arab nationalities), is made on arrival. Bring EUR or USD currency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The switch to all-digital technology means <strong>no more visa stickers<\/strong> affixed to passports. The ANRPTS has clearly announced that <strong>sticker visas would no longer be issued<\/strong>. Instead, on arrival in Mauritania, travellers will pass through a quick stage of <strong>biometric data capture<\/strong> to finalize their entry into the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A measure that concerns all travellers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It is important to note that this new procedure applies to <strong>all travelers<\/strong> subject to visa requirements, including <strong>members of diplomatic and consular staff<\/strong>as well as <strong>representatives of international organizations<\/strong> accredited in Mauritania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"745\" height=\"897\" src=\"https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/evisa_mauritania.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7019477\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/evisa_mauritania.jpg 745w, https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/evisa_mauritania-249x300.jpg 249w, https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/evisa_mauritania-10x12.jpg 10w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">There's a typo in the press release from the Mauritanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs: it should read \"2025\" and not \"2024\" for the application of the measure.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Exceptions for certain nationalities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>However, <strong>some travellers will not need to apply for an e-Visa<\/strong>. Citizens of the following countries benefit from a <strong>visa exemption<\/strong> to enter Mauritania:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Algeria<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Burkina Faso<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ivory Coast<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gambia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Guinea-Bissau<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Libya<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mali<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Niger<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Senegal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chad<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tunisia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mauritania on the road to modernization<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The adoption of e-Visa is a major <strong>a strong sign of Mauritania's commitment to modernization<\/strong> and of <strong>simplify administrative procedures<\/strong>. This initiative is part of a <strong>global trend<\/strong> to the digitization of traveller services, observed in many countries such as France, Germany and Italy. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/en\/blog\/kuwait-opens-its-electronic-visa-to-53-countries\/\">Kuwait<\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/en\/blog\/an-electronic-visa-for-chad\/\">Chad<\/a>. In addition to making life easier for travellers, the e-Visa makes it possible to <strong>enhance safety<\/strong> border crossings thanks to cutting-edge technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Regional tensions and tourism in the making<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This modernization comes at a crucial time for Mauritania<\/strong>. The country, which shares a long border with Mali, is confronted with <strong>security challenges<\/strong> linked to the presence of armed groups in the Sahel region. <strong>Instability in Mali has had repercussions on Mauritania<\/strong>including <strong>waves of Tuareg refugees<\/strong> fleeing insecurity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite its undeniable tourist potential, with its vast stretches of desert, Atlantic coastline and historic sites, <strong>tourism in Mauritania remains modest<\/strong>.
