Namibia is on the verge of launching its new electronic visa system<\/strong>following allegations that its online visa system was malfunctioning. The Ministry of Interior, Immigration, Safety and Security (MHAISS) refuted these allegations, explaining that the system had not yet been launched. It would therefore now be possible to apply for an e-visa on arrival from the official platform from April 01, 2025<\/strong>. The visa-on-arrival process will also be launched on this date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new e-Visa on Arrival will be launched on the same day as the Visa on Arrival application form. Implementation of the reciprocity principle<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From April 1, 2025, citizens of 33 countries that currently require visas for Namibian citizens will also need to apply for a visa to enter Namibia. This measure is based on the principle of reciprocity, aimed at ensuring fair treatment for Namibian travelers and strengthening the country's diplomatic position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Details of the new visa system<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new system will include a electronic visa application to obtain electronic travel authorization before departure<\/strong>. Travellers can apply for a visa online via the official MHAISS portal<\/a>This will facilitate the entry process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cost of a visa is set at 1,600 Namibian dollars (around 80 euros). Visas can be issued at certain airports and border crossings. It will also be possible to obtain a visa on arrival, for eligible nationalities<\/strong>. For other nationalities not eligible for e-visa or visa on arrival, it will still be possible to apply for a visa at an embassy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
