Since March 11, 2025, Liberia has implemented a electronic visa-on-arrival system for international travelers<\/strong>marking an important step in the modernization of its immigration services. The initiative, led by the Liberian Immigration Service (LIS), aims to facilitate the entry of foreign visitors by airway<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An electronic visa application<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Travelers wishing to obtain a visa on arrival must now submit their online request<\/strong> via the official Liberian immigration portal<\/a>. Like many other electronic travel authorizations, you'll need to create an account, fill in the form with your personal details and pay the consular fee (102.5 USD). Please note that several documents will need to be added to the online application, such as a copy of your passport, passport photo and flight booking. You will then receive an approval email with your QR code<\/strong> to print out or download to take with you on your trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As soon as you arrive Monrovia-Roberts International Airport (ROB)<\/strong>To obtain a visa, travelers must present their QR code to the immigration department. Biometric data, such as fingerprints and facial recognition, will be collected before the visa is affixed to the passport. The visa is issued for a single input<\/strong> and is valid for one 30 or 90-day period<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which nationalities are not eligible for e-visa?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Citizens of ECOWAS member countries are exempted.<\/strong> of this new requirement because of the free movement agreements in force in the region. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, nationals of the following 23 countries are not eligible for e-visa on arrival and must contact their Liberian embassy to obtain a visa<\/strong> Liberia: Belgium, Cameroon, China, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Ghana, Guinea, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Morocco, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, United Kingdom, United States. The e-visa is only available if there is no Liberian embassy in your home country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

E-visa and the digitization of entry requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This initiative reflects the commitment of the Liberian government, under the leadership of President Joseph N. Boakai, to modernize administrative procedures and bring them into line with international standards of security and ease of travel. According to Mr. Elijah F. Rufus, Acting Commissioner General of the Liberian Immigration Service, this system will improve border control and contribute to the country's economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To make travel easier, the immigration services of many destinations are going digital, allowing travelers to simplify their entry into the country. Liberia is starting its e-visa process, while other countries are still considering this new system. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
