IndiGo<\/strong>India's largest airline, announced the cancellation of more than 165 flights to and from several of the country's airports, at least until May 10<\/strong>. Cities affected include Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Gwalior, Kishangarh and Rajkot. In a statement published on X, IndiGo said these cancellations could be extended, and further flight adjustments could follow as the situation develops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline invited its passengers to check the status of their flights<\/a> before heading to the airport, pointing out that further changes could be announced in real time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Background: airspace restrictions and military operations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This wave of cancellations comes against a backdrop of major airspace restrictions<\/strong>following Indian air strikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, as part of Operation Sindoor. These military operations targeted strongholds of terrorist groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Indian authorities justified these strikes in response to a terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which killed 26 civilians, including tourists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
