Interior Minister Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo warned that airlines carrying passengers to Nigeria without valid entry visas, landing or exit cards will be penalized<\/strong>. This statement was made during an awareness-raising program in Lagos, dedicated to the implementation of the electronic visa system (E-Visa) and landing and exit cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minister stressed that Nigeria must not be used as a testing ground, and thatfrom now on, no foreigner will be admitted without a visa<\/strong>. He pointed out that, although the introduction of the E-Visa facilitates access to the country, national security remains a top priority. He therefore urged the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to step up awareness and strict enforcement of the 2025 visa policy, reminding airlines of their responsibility to safety and the national interest<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

NCAA Executive Director, Captain Chris Najomo, praised the introduction of E-Visa and new cards<\/strong>This is a major step forward in bringing Nigeria in line with international best practice and improving the experience of travellers. The head of Nigeria's Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, called for a greater cooperation between agencies<\/strong> to ensure the success of these innovations and strengthen border security<\/p>\n\n\n\n

E-Visa \/ entry and exit card<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dr Tunji-Ojo insisted that the simple presentation of an airline ticket or proof of payment was no longer sufficient for travel to Nigeria. He added that this requirement is in line with practices in other countries, such as the UK, USA and Canada, and will now be strictly enforced in Nigeria. The Minister also emphasized the simplicity of the process for obtaining E-Visa and landing and exit cards<\/strong>which aims to open up the country to investors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the introduction of E-Visa on May 1, over 5,800 applications have been received, the vast majority of which have been approved. However, he pointed out that certain conditions still have to be met before the visa can be issued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
