Leon Schreiber <strong>even<\/strong> demonstrate the functionality by showing your own digital ETA visa stored in your smartphone wallet. This process eliminates the need for physical paperwork, in-person appointments or long waits at ports of entry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Travelers will need to provide their biometric information during the application process, and once on site, scan their ETA code and provide a new copy of their biometric information for verification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gradual expansion to all visa types<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Initially, the ETA will be deployed at the end of <strong>september 2025<\/strong> at South Africa's main international airports for tourist visa applications of less than 90 days. However, the ambition of the Department of Home Affairs is to extend <strong>gradually<\/strong> this system to process all types of visa applications, including work visas, study permits and residence applications. The long-term objective is to achieve an immigration framework <strong>fully<\/strong> digital and AI-based, eliminating <strong>so<\/strong> fraud and inefficiency for good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the coexistence with the current e-Visa system?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Currently<\/strong>the portal <a href=\"https:\/\/ehome.dha.gov.za\/epermit\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">eVisa from South Africa is <strong>always<\/strong> and is used by visitors from over thirty countries.<\/a>. The new ETA system should, in <strong>large part<\/strong>This will replace the existing e-Visa system for the same nations.
