Since this event, more than a dozen laws have been enacted to tighten migration controls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Electronic travel authorization<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This can be done via <strong>RuID mobile application<\/strong>The application must be submitted no later than 72 hours before arrival, and requires a photo, passport details and information on the purpose and duration of stay. Once the application has been validated, the QR code generated must be shown to immigration control officials (whether by land, air or sea), who will also collect the traveler's biometric data. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can find out how to use this new measure at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gosuslugi.ru\/landing\/new_entry_rules?utm_source=main&amp;utm_medium=banner&amp;utm_campaign=new_entry_rules\">click on the following link<\/a> and it will redirect you to the Gosuslugi authorities' website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A new measure for citizens entering the country without a visa<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This requirement does not apply to persons entering Russia with a visa, temporary residence permit or permanent resident status.<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your nationality requires an e-visa, you can apply from the <a href=\"https:\/\/evisa.kdmid.ru\/\">official government portal<\/a>. Here is the list of nationalities eligible for e-visa : <em>Andorra, Austria, Bahrain, Barbados, Belgium, Bhutan, Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Eswatini, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Myanmar, Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Macedonia, Romania, San Marino, Saint Lucia, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Czech Republic, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Vietnam, Zimbabwe.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your nationality is not listed above, so you'll need to do the following <strong>an electronic travel authorization request to obtain your QR Code<\/strong>from the RuID mobile application or from the Gosuslugi portal, if you are already registered with the Russian authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Belarusian citizens, children under 6, diplomats and employees of international organizations are not affected by this procedure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Central Asian countries particularly concerned<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>New QR code system overturns visa-free entry between Russia and Central Asian countries<\/strong>. This new procedure mainly targets travelers from countries with which Russia has visa waiver agreements, notably those in Central Asia, but also from other partner countries, such as those in South America. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last but not least, this QR code requirement is part of a global trend: the European Union is planning to introduce the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/en\/blog\/new-dates-for-ees-and-etias-launches\/\">system ETIAS<\/a> (European Travel Information and Authorization System) by the end of 2026, and the UK has already introduced an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system in 2023.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From June 30, 2025, Russia will be imposing a new procedure on foreigners wishing to enter its territory without a visa: from now on, they will have to fill in an electronic application to obtain a compulsory QR code to present when crossing the border.
