Tunisia has just announced the introduction of a visa-on-arrival scheme for certain categories of Egyptian nationals<\/strong>This marks a turning point in the company's land access policy, aimed at boosting tourism and strengthening economic relations with Egypt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which travellers require a visa on arrival?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to a press release from the Tunisian embassy in Cairo<\/a> published on Monday, September 15, 2025, this new program focuses on business leaders, doctors, researchers, executives and senior civil servants<\/strong>. Egyptian holders of valid Schengen or US visas, as well as residence permits<\/strong>will also be able to take advantage of this measure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The system also includes tourist groups of more than ten people<\/strong>They must be accompanied by a representative of the agency as soon as they arrive at the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eligible travelers will nevertheless be required to submit a list of names of participants to the Tunisian authorities in advance, and to provide a number of supporting documents: detailed travel itinerary, round-trip tickets matching the hotel reservation, copies of valid passports and proof of the reason for the stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Until now, Egyptians had to systematically apply for a visa in advance at the Tunisian embassy in Cairo, a procedure deemed to be both rigorous and time-consuming. This opening represents a significant change, even if it remains limited to certain specific profiles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boosting Tunisia's tourism sector<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The move is part of a wider strategy to revive Tunisia's tourism sector, which has been hard hit by the pandemic and economic challenges. According to the Tunisian Ministry of Tourism, some 100,000 Egyptians visit the country every year, a figure which the authorities hope will rise from 20 to 30% thanks to these new measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, this policy is in line with Tunisia's commitment to facilitating the visa application process in digital format. Announcement of the launch of an electronic visa platform by the end of 2025<\/strong> is designed to further simplify procedures for Egyptian and other national travelers. The secure platform is currently in preparation, and no launch date has yet been given. The authorities recently announced the delay in planned launch of electronic visa<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This announcement comes on the heels of a highly symbolic official visit by Tunisian Prime Minister Sara Zaafarani to Cairo, where she co-chaired the 18th edition of the Tunisian-Egyptian Joint Committee with her counterpart Mostafa Madbouly.
