Since October 1 of this year, a new Jordanian regulation concerning the registration of foreigners after a 14-day stay has raised concerns among travelers, who point to constraints similar to those imposed in other countries for the monitoring of foreign residents. It should be noted that this obligation does not apply to the vast majority of tourists<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Details of the new regulations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Foreigners planning to stay in the country for more than 14 days must report to the nearest police station with a residence extension office.<\/strong><\/mark>. This must be done within 14 days of arrival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim of these regulations is to enable the security authorities to determine the place of residence of any foreigner staying in Jordan for more than 14 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Failure to comply will result in a fine of 200 Jordanian dinars (equivalent to 240 €<\/span>)<\/strong>, which must be paid when leaving the country at the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why aren't tourists involved?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    This new feature is aimed more at those entering Jordan with the intention of study or work there long-term<\/strong>. Travellers holding the Jordan Pass<\/a><\/strong> (a digital tourist pass that includes exemption from visa fees and gives access to the main tourist sites) are also exempt from this requirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
