According to an internal State Department memo, consular officers have been instructed to refuse visas under existing law while the administration re-examines screening methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Selection criteria and applicant profile<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The new guidelines on entry requirements are particularly strict. To determine whether an applicant is at risk of being refused entry to the United States, consular officers will take into account :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Health and age<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>English skills<\/strong> and personal finance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Aid history<\/strong> any past use of government financial assistance or previous institutionalization will be penalized.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A complete list of <strong>75 nationalities<\/strong> has been published.
