{"id":7022180,"date":"2026-01-17T23:40:22","date_gmt":"2026-01-17T22:40:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/?p=7022180"},"modified":"2026-01-17T23:49:52","modified_gmt":"2026-01-17T22:49:52","slug":"algeria-visa-exemption-for-dual-nationals-extended-to-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/en\/blog\/algerie-lexemption-de-visa-pour-les-binationaux-prolongee-jusquen-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Algeria: Visa exemption for dual nationals extended to 2027"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you are an Algerian national living abroad (binationals, such as Franco-Algerians, Belgo-Algerians, etc.), <a href=\"https:\/\/consulat-paris-algerie.fr\/5367\/communique-mesures-exceptionnelles-de-facilitations-dentree-et-de-sortie-du-territoire-national\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the Algerian authorities have just announced<\/a> that the exceptional arrangements for visa-free entry are <strong>renewed until December 31, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What's changing (and what's staying the same)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Initially designed to cope with the summer rush, these \u201cexceptional and derogatory\u201d measures are now valid for a further two years.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u26a0\ufe0f Official deadline: December 31, 2026<\/strong><br>This waiver allows you to enter and leave Algeria without first obtaining a visa, even if your Algerian identity documents are no longer up to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Visa-free entry requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To travel with peace of mind, you must meet one of the following two criteria. Please note that presentation of a <strong>valid foreign passport (French, Canadian, Belgian, etc.)<\/strong> is the compulsory common base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Case 1: You have a Biometric Identity Card (CNIBE)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It's the ideal scenario. You can travel with :<br>\u2705 Your foreign passport (valid).<br>\u2705 Your National Biometric and Electronic Identity Card (CNIBE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\ud83d\udc49 <strong>The plus :<\/strong> The CNIBE is accepted <strong>even if it has expired<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Case 2: You do not have an identity card (CNIBE)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don't have a biometric card, you can use your old passport, under one strict condition:<br>\u2705 Your foreign passport (valid).<br>\u2705 Your Algerian passport <strong>biometric<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udc49 <strong>The plus :<\/strong> This Algerian passport is accepted <strong>even if expired<\/strong>.<br><strong>\u274c Attention:<\/strong> Old non-biometric \u201cgreen\u201d passports are generally not accepted in this context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-gray-lighter-background-color has-background has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td>Families travelling with <strong>children under 15<\/strong>, who do not yet have Algerian papers, also benefit from this flexibility.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Documents to present to the PAF (Border Police) <\/strong>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The child's valid foreign passport.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proof of parentage or relationship :<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Family record book.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Birth certificate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Family sheet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For legal guardians :<\/strong> Documents attesting to status (Kafala, guardianship decree).<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-gray-lighter-background-color has-background has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>A word of caution: noun concordance<br><\/strong>It's a detail that often gets in the way of travelers at check-in counters. If the spelling of your name differs between your foreign passport and your Algerian documents, be prepared:<br><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Minor difference<\/span> (one letter): It is recommended to have an \u201cattestation d'individualit\u00e9\u201d (issued by the consulate).<br><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Substantial difference<\/span> (totally different name) : A court order will be required.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Although this measure is a huge relief for the diaspora, bear in mind that it remains transitional.
