For travelers wishing to use the e-visa, it will now be possible to enter India via the land borders with Nepal and Bhutan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New authorized entry points<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Until recently, entering India with an electronic visa (e-Visa) often required an international flight to a metropolis. Since the end of 2025, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visamundi.co\/en\/blog\/you-can-finally-use-an-indian-e-visa-to-arrive-by-land\/\">the major new features concern arrivals via the <strong>land borders<\/strong><\/a>. For \u201cslow travelers\u201d and travelers with a South Asia travel itinerary, it is now possible to enter India overland with an e-Visa via :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Jogbani (Bihar):<\/strong> Ideal for travelers from eastern Nepal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Darranga (Assam):<\/strong> The new official gateway from <strong>Bhutan<\/strong>.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The e-Visa is now accepted in <strong>19 ports<\/strong>, These ports facilitate cruises and private arrivals to the state of Kerala. Here are the two documents you need to travel to India in 2026: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>1. The e-Visa (ETA<\/em>) <br>You can now apply until <strong>120 days<\/strong> before your arrival date. Your passport must be at least <strong>2 blank pages<\/strong> and be valid for 6 months after arrival. When applying, you will need to provide a passport photo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>2. The new e-Arrival Card (Compulsory)<\/em><br>Since the end of 2025, the paper immigration form distributed on the plane has disappeared. You must fill in your <strong>e-Arrival Card<\/strong> online on the <a href=\"https:\/\/indianvisaonline.gov.in\/earrival\/\">official portal<\/a> (or via the <em>Su-Swagatam<\/em>) in the <strong>72 hours<\/strong> before you land or cross the border. A QR code will be issued for immigration checks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Questions from our travellers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Can I leave India via a non-listed point?<\/strong><br>Yes, the restrictions only apply to the\u2019<strong>entrance<\/strong>. For Exit, you can use any of India's approved Immigration Control Points (ICPs) (there are over 100).<br><strong>Is the e-Visa valid for Sikkim or Ladakh?<\/strong><br>The e-Visa allows you to enter India, but certain sensitive areas (Protected\/Restricted Areas) such as Sikkim, parts of Ladakh or Arunachal Pradesh require an additional permit (<strong>PAP\/RAP<\/strong>) to be obtained on site or through an approved agency.<br><strong>What happens if I arrive at an unmentioned land border?<\/strong><br>If you have an e-Visa and present yourself at an unequipped land point (such as Wagah with Pakistan), you will be refused entry.
