If you are a national of one of the new countries targeted by the State Department, the consular officer will require you to post a deposit of 15,000 $ US (approx. €13,800) before we approve and issue your visa.

How does it work? You are interviewed at the American embassy. If your profile is validated, you must deposit the sum of 15,000 $. You stay in the U.S. strictly within the authorized dates. When you return to your home country, and have proved that you left the U.S. on time, the deposit is returned to you.

The authorities' findings: According to the State Department, the program is highly effective.
