If a minor child living in France needs to travel abroad (including for a stopover) without a legal guardian (father, mother or guardian), he or she must have an authorization to leave France (AST).<\/h3>\n

What is AST?<\/h2>\n

The authorization to leave the country is a form (Cerfa 15646*01) that a legal guardian must complete online, print out and sign. The legal guardian must attach a copy of his or her identity document to the form. When crossing the border, minors will not be asked to show their family record book, even if their name is different from that of their legal guardian.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I am Italian. My child lives in France. Does he need an AST to travel abroad?<\/p>\n

The answer is YES<\/strong>. My child will need to travel with his or her AST, CNI or passport (depending on the country he or she is going to), a visa (if the country he or she is going to requires one) and a copy of a valid ID document from the person responsible for him or her (CNI, passport or residence permit).<\/p>\n

My child is going to a country requiring an e-Visa<\/h2>\n

To visit certain countries such as India, Oman or the Sri Lanka<\/a>If you are planning to visit France, you must first apply for an e-Visa. For minors travelling without their parents, AST will not be required when applying for an e-Visa.<\/strong>. The form will be requested when clearing immigration or when boarding.<\/p>\n
