Codenamed “<em>MOZBIO2</em>,” the electronic visa will be coordinated by three ministries: Culture and Tourism, Interior, and Land and Environment.</p>\n<p>Interior Minister Amade Miquité stated that “<em>the e-Visa is a major leap forward because it ensures contact between the applicant and the migration authorities and can be requested from anywhere in the world. It’s a technological step that will place Mozambique on the map of the world’s top tourism destinations</em>.”</p>\n<p>While tourism remains relatively underdeveloped in Mozambique, recent figures show steady growth. Government and private investors are working to expand the sector into a bigger revenue generator for the country.</p>\n<p>In 2019, Mozambique welcomed roughly <strong>2.2 million foreign visitors, up from 1.8 million in 2018</strong>. Top source markets in 2019 were South Africa, Zimbabwe, Eswatini, Malawi, Portugal, and the United Kingdom—</p>\n<p>According to World Bank data, tourism revenues reached roughly $390 million in 2019, a notable increase from previous years.</p>\n<p>Prime tourism draws include white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, wild landscapes, national parks, private wildlife reserves, and island getaways. The Bazaruto Archipelago, Quirimbas Archipelago, Pemba, and Maputo are among the most popular spots for international visitors.</p>","protected":false},"tags":[46]}
