It's now possible to discover East Africa with an e-visa via Rwanda. Among other things, this system allows easy access to several African countries without having to go through complex procedures for each one.
Nationalities eligible for the East Africa Visa
Among the nationalities eligible for the East Africa Visa via Rwanda are the majority of European, American, Asian and Oceanic nations.
Documents to be supplied
Several documents are required to complete your electronic visa application:
- A valid passport: it must be valid for at least 6 months after the planned date of departure;
- A recent passport photo complying with current standards;
- Proof of hotel reservation in the country(ies) you plan to visit;
- The complete itinerary
- Yellow fever vaccination certificate
- A completed online application form on the official Rwandan government website.
Entry points and length of stay
The East Africa Visa is valid for a single entry via Rwanda. The authorized entry points are :
- Theinternational airport of Kigali, the capital of Rwanda ;
- Land border crossings between Rwanda and neighboring countries (Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Congo).
โ ๏ธ It is important to note that the e-visa system is not yet available at all Rwanda border entry points.
The maximum stay authorized for an East Africa Visa is 90 days. It must be used within 3 months of issue. The document is valid for 1 entry into Rwanda, then for as many border crossings as desired between the 3 countries. It is important to note that tourist visas do not allow you to work or study in Rwanda.

The East Africa Visa via Rwanda allows you to visit several countries in the region without having to apply for a specific visa for each of them. The countries concerned are :
- Rwanda, country of entry for this electronic visa;
- Uganda
- Kenya
Passport validity and fees
To be eligible for the East Africa Visa, your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned return date. This is essential to ensure that you have a valid travel document for the duration of your stay.
The fee is usually 100 USD, plus intermediary service charges if required.
