Travel authorizationThe Seychelles welcomes its visitors without a traditional visa: instead, anyone wishing to travel to this archipelago in the Indian Ocean must obtain an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization), a mandatory electronic travel authorization required before boarding. Available to virtually all nationalities worldwide, this online formality permanently replaces the consular visa and considerably simplifies the process. Here is everything you need to know to prepare your Seychelles ETA stress-free.
01 Β· The essentials
The ETA is required of all travellers without exception β regardless of nationality, regardless of age β arriving in the Seychelles by air or sea (only Kosovar nationals are unable to benefit from it).
The application is made entirely online via the Seychelles Electronic Border System (SEBS), with no consular appointment or paper file submission required.
The complexity of the procedure is rated as "easy": the form is guided and can automatically detect information from your passport.

The Seychelles ETA is an electronic travel authorization β and not a proper e-Visa. The Seychelles does not impose a traditional visa on the vast majority of travellers: almost all nationalities are exempt. However, all travellers arriving by air or sea must obtain this ETA before departing.
This formality is made mandatory by the Seychelles Electronic Border System (SEBS), the Seychelles' electronic border management system. It applies to all travellers without exception, including children, regardless of their nationality β with the sole exception of Kosovar nationals, who cannot benefit from the ETA.
In practice, the ETA can be requested before departure, and your airline or shipping company is entitled to ask for it at the time of boarding. It is therefore a formality that should not be left to the last moment.
02 Β· Eligibility
The Seychelles entry policy is one of the most open in the world: the country does not require a traditional visa for the vast majority of nationalities. However, the use of the electronic ETA is universal and mandatory, including for European nationals, American, Canadian, Australian citizens, and those of many other countries.
All travellers worldwide are eligible for the Seychelles ETA, with the exception of Kosovar nationals, who cannot make this application and must enquire directly with the Seychellois authorities about the entry conditions that apply to them.
Citizens of the European Union, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, as well as the vast majority of other countries can obtain an ETA without any particular condition related to their nationality.
Regardless of your nationality, you must meet the following conditions for your ETA to be granted:
Each traveller, regardless of age, must have their own ETA. Parents must make an individual application for each of their children.
The Seychelles does not impose a traditional visa on the vast majority of nationalities worldwide. The ETA is the only mandatory formality before departure, regardless of your country of origin.
Kosovar nationals cannot benefit from the Seychelles ETA. They must enquire directly with the Seychellois authorities about the applicable entry conditions.
Even infants and young children must have their own ETA. The application is individual, regardless of the traveller's age.
Your passport must be valid for at least 1 month after your planned departure date from the Seychelles β not after your arrival date. Plan ahead if your passport is expiring soon.
If you are transiting through a Seychelles airport without staying there, the ETA remains mandatory. There is no exemption for transit passengers. Plan your ETA application even if you do not intend to leave the airport during a stopover.
03 Β· The procedure

The Seychelles ETA application is made entirely online, via the Seychellois electronic border system (SEBS). The procedure is designed to be simple and accessible to everyone: the form can even automatically detect certain information present on your passport, which limits the risk of data-entry errors.
Before starting your application, gather the following documents:
Additional information will be requested in the form: identity data extracted from your passport, emergency contact in your country of origin, list of last countries visited, and answers to a few customs and health questions.
Make sure your nationality is eligible for the ETA (all except Kosovo). Also check the validity of your passport: it must be valid at least 1 month after your planned departure date from the Seychelles.
Prepare a scanned copy of your passport, a recent identity photo, your round-trip flight ticket (or cruise reservation) and your accommodation confirmation. Business travellers should also provide an invitation letter or mission order.
Access the Seychelles ETA application portal and complete the form with your personal and travel information. The system can automatically detect certain data from your passport. Answer the customs and health questions carefully.
The consular fees amount to 160 SCR (approximately 11 β¬). Payment is made online by credit card (Visa, Mastercard or American Express). Make sure your card is valid before starting the application. Please note: consular fees are non-refundable in case of rejection.
The usual processing time is approximately 3 days. It is recommended to submit your application as soon as possible after booking your trip, to avoid any stress related to a possible delay.
Once approved, your ETA will be communicated to you. Keep this document and present it to your airline or shipping company at boarding, then to immigration officers upon your arrival in the Seychelles.
04 Β· Fees & processing times
The consular fees for the Seychelles ETA are set by the Seychellois authorities at 160 SCR, approximately 11 β¬ per traveller at the indicative exchange rate. These fees apply to each individual application, including for children.
Payment is made online at the time of submission of the application, by credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard or American Express). It is important to have a valid card at hand before starting the form, as payment occurs at the end of the process.
Consular fees are non-refundable in the event of rejection of the application. This is a rule established by the Seychellois authorities and applies to all applications, regardless of the reason for refusal.
Once issued, the ETA is valid for 30 days from its date of issue: you must enter the Seychelles within this window. The maximum authorized stay is 90 days from your arrival. Note that the ETA is valid for a single entry only; if you wish to make multiple stays in the Seychelles, you will need to make a new application for each entry.
If you wish to remain in the Seychelles beyond your initial stay period, or if you wish to extend your authorization, it is possible to apply for an extension on site, at the Seychelles Immigration and Civil Status Division. This application must be made before your current ETA expires. The extension is granted in 3-month increments and can go up to 12 months in total. Extension fees apply (5,000 SCR, approximately 311 β¬). The total duration of stay, including all extensions, is limited to 90 days.
The consular fees paid when applying for an ETA are non-refundable if the application is refused by the Seychellois authorities. Make sure to verify your eligibility carefully and to provide correct and complete documents before submitting your application.
05 Β· Good to know
The Seychelles ETA applies to travellers arriving both by air and by sea. If you are travelling on a cruise ship or a private sailing vessel, you will need to provide a confirmed cruise reservation instead of a flight ticket. The procedure and documents to be provided are otherwise identical to those for an air journey.
The main airports of the Seychelles are:
For sea arrivals, the ports of MahΓ© and Port Victoria are the main maritime entry points of the archipelago.
Even if you are transiting through a Seychelles airport without leaving the departure area, the ETA remains mandatory. No transit exemption is provided for by the SEBS system.
Travellers arriving by boat (cruise, sailing vessel) must make the same ETA application as air passengers. The reference document to provide is the cruise reservation or itinerary.
The dry season in the Seychelles runs from May to October β ideal conditions for diving, hiking and island discovery. July and August are months of high tourist influx: book accommodation and flights well in advance.
Airlines and shipping companies may require presentation of the ETA at boarding. Always obtain your ETA before heading to your point of departure.
