Kyrgyzstan has modernised access to its territory by launching the e-Visa, a genuine electronic visa to apply for online, without visiting an embassy. Since January 2025, the "Sapar Visa" (Type J) unifies the former tourist, business and mountain visas into a single scheme — straightforward to obtain, valid 90 days from issuance for a stay of up to 30 days on a single entry. 01 · Key facts
The e-Visa is obtained entirely online, without visiting an embassy or consulate, regardless of the option chosen.
Whatever the type of visa requested, the passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the intended entry date into Kyrgyzstan.
Kyrgyzstan offers 19 visa categories (tourism, business, mountain, transit, studies, investment…), unified since January 2025 under the Sapar Visa (Type J).
Launched on 22 January 2025, the Sapar Visa (Type J) replaces the former separate visas for tourism, business and mountain tourism. This unified electronic visa now covers tourism, business visits, private visits and medical examinations. It is available as a single or multiple-entry visa, for stays of up to 90 days.
Once your application has been approved online, the e-Visa is sent to you by email. You must print it and present it to the authorities on arrival in Kyrgyzstan. There is no need to visit a consulate or embassy: everything is done online from home.
02 · Who needs one?
Kyrgyzstan operates a multi-tier visa policy. Depending on your nationality, you may be exempt from a visa, required to obtain an e-Visa, or eligible for a visa on arrival. Here are the main categories to be aware of.
Azerbaijan, Cuba, North Korea, Georgia, Moldova and Tajikistan may stay without a visa and without any time limit.
Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine benefit from an exemption of up to 90 consecutive days.
Since early 2026, nationals of 55 Western countries (France, Germany, United States, Canada, Australia, Japan…) may stay up to 30 calendar days within each 60-day rolling period. A simple border crossing is no longer sufficient to reset the counter.
African, South American, Asian and other nationalities not mentioned above must obtain an e-Visa before entering Kyrgyzstan.
Four nationalities — South Africa, Indonesia, Philippines and Venezuela — can also obtain a visa on arrival, valid for a maximum stay of 30 days, but only at Manas International Airport (Bishkek). This facility does not apply at land border crossings.
03 · Entry points
Your e-Visa is only valid at entry points officially designated for holders of this document. At any other crossing, it will not be recognised. The main entry points accessible with an e-Visa are as follows:

04 · The process
The e-Visa application is completed entirely online. The process is straightforward and the number of documents required is limited. Nevertheless, it is best to gather all supporting documents before starting to avoid interrupting your application midway.
The standard processing time is up to 5 working days from submission. Plan your application accordingly, with a comfortable margin before your departure date.
Passport valid for at least 6 months after the intended entry date; colour copy of the identity page; recent ID photo on a white background; copies of flight tickets; itinerary; proof of accommodation for every night.
Enter your personal details and passport information. Indicate the entry and exit dates, the purpose of your stay (tourism, business, transit…) and your accommodation details.
Payment is made online by credit or debit card authorised for internet transactions. Consular fees vary depending on the type of visa requested: 52 USD for a 30-day tourist or business visa, 26 USD for a transit e-Visa (official amounts at the time of writing).
Standard processing takes up to 5 working days. You will receive your e-Visa by email once the application has been approved.
Print your e-Visa and present it to the immigration authorities on arrival in Kyrgyzstan. Keep it accessible throughout your stay.
If your application is refused, you may submit a new one by correcting any errors or attaching additional documents. Refusals are rare and are generally due to inconsistencies in the information provided, missing or incorrect documents. If the application was submitted with the assistance of a service provider and is refused, the application fees are fully refunded.
05 · Fees & timelines
The cost of the e-Visa varies depending on the type chosen and the length of stay selected at the time of application. The fees mentioned here correspond to the most common visas. For multiple-entry options or longer stays (60 or 90 days), the amounts are different and require contacting the Kyrgyz authorities directly.
Payment is made entirely online, by card. Make sure your card is authorised for international internet payments before starting the process.
06 · Before you travel
A well-prepared e-Visa application goes smoothly. The most common reasons for refusal are errors in the information entered, incorrect passport data or insufficient documents. A few simple precautions are enough to avoid these pitfalls and approach your trip with peace of mind.
Check every piece of information entered in the form carefully, making sure the data matches exactly what appears in your passport. An error in the passport number, an incorrect date of birth or a misspelled first name can be enough to invalidate your e-Visa and complicate your passage through immigration.

Even though it is electronic, the e-Visa must be presented in printed form to the authorities on arrival. Always carry a paper copy.
Travel on the dates shown on your e-Visa and do not exceed the authorised length of stay. Also make sure you have sufficient funds and proof of accommodation for the entire duration of your stay.
If your stay exceeds 5 days, registration with the local authorities is mandatory. Your hotel can often take care of this formality.
