1 option for Azerbaijan

Choose the visa that fits your trip. Fully online process, real-time tracking.

Azerbaijan has introduced ASAN Viza, a fully online electronic visa allowing nationals of more than 90 countries to travel without visiting an embassy. Whether you are heading to Baku as a tourist, for business, or for medical reasons, the process comes down to an online form, a card payment, and receiving your visa by e-mail — print it out before you board.

01 · The essentials

ASAN Viza: the Azerbaijani electronic visa

100% online

The ASAN Viza application is completed entirely online, with no consular appointment or postal submission required, from anywhere in the world.

Land borders

It is impossible to obtain a visa at land border crossings: the application must be submitted online before entering the country.

90+ nationalities

Nationals of more than 90 countries are eligible for ASAN Viza; certain nationalities (Georgia, Ukraine, Turkey) benefit from a visa exemption.

ASAN Viza is the electronic visa system introduced by the Azerbaijani government to facilitate access to the country for foreign tourists. Entirely accessible online, it allows you to complete your application from anywhere in the world, without a consular appointment or postal submission.

Once issued, the visa authorises a maximum stay of 30 days in Azerbaijan and remains valid for 90 days from its date of issue to enter the country. It is a single-entry visa: if you leave Azerbaijan to visit a neighbouring country, you will need to submit a new application before returning.

Critical point: it is impossible to obtain a visa at land border crossings. The application must be made online, before departure.

ASAN Viza is not stamped in your passport: it is a printable PDF document that you present to border authorities on arrival. The visa stamp is affixed to your passport directly at the border. Remember to print your visa before you leave.

02 · Eligibility

Who can obtain an Azerbaijani e-Visa?

Nationals of more than 90 countries are currently eligible for ASAN Viza. These include the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the vast majority of European countries, including France, Belgium, and Switzerland.

Certain nationalities benefit from a visa exemption and therefore do not need ASAN Viza: this is the case for citizens of Georgia, Ukraine, and Turkey, who can enter the country without a visa. Holders of diplomatic passports from certain countries are also exempt. It is therefore important to check the conditions applicable to your nationality before planning your trip.

Accepted purposes of stay

Tourism, business, conference, studies, medical reasons, visiting a relative, events, NGO. The e-Visa does not permit regular salaried employment on Azerbaijani territory.

Dual nationality

The visa will be linked to the passport indicated in the application. Make sure you travel with that same passport. If in doubt, decide which nationality you wish to use before submitting the form.

Group travel

It is possible to submit an ASAN Viza application for a group of 2 to 10 people simultaneously.

Children

All travellers, including infants, must have their own visa. No exemption is provided for minors.

Visa refused: what is the alternative?
If your ASAN Viza application is rejected, you will need to apply for a standard visa from the Azerbaijani consulate in your country of residence, with a scheduled appointment. The consular procedure takes longer and requires a physical visit.

03 · The procedure

How to obtain your ASAN Viza, step by step

ASAN Viza Azerbaijan online application form
The ASAN Viza application is completed entirely online.

The process is entirely paperless. You do not need to travel anywhere, send original documents by post, or book an appointment at an embassy. Everything takes place online, from any computer or smartphone connected to the internet.

The main document required is a scanned copy of your passport: it must be valid for at least 3 months after the visa's expiry date, and have at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps. Make sure to comply with the file format and size requirements to avoid any processing delays.

  1. 1
    Gather your documents

Prepare a scanned copy of your valid passport (minimum 3 months' validity after the visa's expiry date, with at least 2 blank pages), as well as an accommodation address in Azerbaijan — the authorities require this without exception.

  2. 2
    Complete the online form

Fill in our application form: personal details, travel information, purpose of stay. Check each piece of information carefully, particularly the passport number.

  3. 3
    Pay the fees

Pay the consular fees (25 €) and the service fees by international credit or debit card. Payment secures your application.

  4. 4
    Submit your documents

After payment confirmation, upload the scanned copy of your passport to your personal account. No postal submission is required.

  5. 5
Receive your ASAN Viza by e-mail

Once your application has been processed and approved, you will receive your electronic visa in PDF format by e-mail.

  6. 6
Print and present at the border

Print your e-Visa and present it to the Azerbaijani border authorities on arrival. The visa stamp will be affixed to your passport on the spot.

Important lead time
It is strongly recommended to submit your application at least 12 working days before your travel date. Applications submitted too late may not be processed in time. Plan ahead and do not leave your application to the last minute.

04 · Documents and requirements

What you need to know before submitting your application

The ASAN Viza procedure is straightforward, but a few conditions deserve particular attention. The main requirement concerns your passport: it must be valid for at least 3 months after the visa's expiry date and have at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps.

Unlike some countries, Azerbaijan also requires you to provide a local accommodation address when applying. It is therefore essential to have booked accommodation with an Azerbaijani address before filling in the form.

Documents to prepare for ASAN Viza
  • Valid passportValid for at least 3 months after the visa's expiry date, with at least 2 blank pages.
  • Scanned copy of passportColour scan, legible, meeting the required file format and size specifications.
  • Accommodation address in AzerbaijanHotel, apartment, or other accommodation with a full, verifiable local address.
  • International payment methodInternational credit or debit card to pay the consular and service fees.
  • Valid e-mail addressTo receive the application confirmation and, once granted, the ASAN Viza in PDF format.

Make sure all the information you provide is accurate and consistent. Any error, however minor — particularly regarding the passport number or date of birth — may cause processing delays or the rejection of your application. If you notice an error after submission, contact support as soon as possible.

If you are transiting through Azerbaijan without leaving the international area of the airport, you do not need a visa. However, as soon as you pass through customs control, holding a valid visa is mandatory.

05 · Specific features

Key features of ASAN Viza: what you absolutely need to know

ASAN Viza has several characteristics that distinguish it from other electronic visas and that you should fully understand before planning your trip to Azerbaijan.

First characteristic: the visa is single-entry. This means in practice that if you decide, during your stay, to visit neighbouring Georgia or Iran and return, you will need to submit a new ASAN Viza application before re-entering Azerbaijan. For travellers wishing to make return trips, it is possible to obtain a multiple-entry visa, but only through Azerbaijani diplomatic missions, not through the electronic system.

Extension of stay

An extension is possible, but it requires a physical visit to the State Migration Service office in Azerbaijan during your stay. It is not possible to apply online from abroad.

Renewal while in the country

It is not possible to submit a new ASAN Viza application from Azerbaijani territory. You must leave the country before making a new application.

Visa validity

The e-Visa is valid from the date your application is submitted to the local authorities, up to 90 days after its issue. Plan your arrival accordingly.

Air transit

If you do not leave the international area of the Azerbaijani airport, no visa is required. The visa obligation only applies to travellers passing through immigration controls.

Impossible to obtain a visa at a land border crossing
Azerbaijani land border crossings do not issue any visa. If you enter Azerbaijan by land (from Georgia, Armenia, Russia, or Iran), you must have a valid visa at the time of crossing. Any attempt to cross without a prior visa will be refused.

Regarding purposes of stay, ASAN Viza covers a wide range: tourism, business, conferences, studies, medical reasons, visiting a relative, participation in an event, activity within an NGO. However, it does not under any circumstances permit regular salaried professional activity on Azerbaijani territory. For any purpose not covered by the e-Visa, you must contact the Azerbaijani embassy or consulate directly.

06 · Before you go

Preparing your trip to Azerbaijan: the right reflexes

Beyond obtaining your visa, a trip to Azerbaijan requires preparation on several fronts. Here are the key points to bear in mind to travel with peace of mind and avoid unpleasant surprises at the border or during your stay.

Azerbaijan is a country of many faces: the modern and dynamic capital Baku, Caucasian landscapes, historical sites in the Sheki region, or the eternal flames of Yanar Dag. Whether you are travelling alone, with family, or on business, the destination offers varied experiences — all the more accessible thanks to the simplicity of the e-Visa procedure.
