Electronic visaBahrain, the "kingdom of two seas", welcomes travellers from around the world with a fully digital electronic visa: the eVisa. From your computer or smartphone, without visiting an embassy, you obtain an official document in approximately 72 hours authorising you to stay in the archipelago for tourism or business. Available in three durations — 14, 30 or 90 days — the Bahrain eVisa is valid from arrival, whether you enter through Bahrain International Airport or the King Fahad Causeway.
01 · The essentials
The Bahrain eVisa is obtained entirely online, with no need to visit an embassy or consulate.
The scheme offers three eVisa durations (14, 30 or 90 days), suited to both tourism and business travel.
Regardless of the document chosen, your passport must be valid for at least six months after your date of entry into Bahrain.

The Bahrain eVisa is a full electronic visa — not to be confused with a simple travel authorisation or an ETA. It is issued by the Bahraini government to nationals of many countries wishing to enter the territory for tourism or business purposes.
Unlike a visa on arrival, the eVisa must be applied for before departure, from anywhere, with no envelope to send or embassy appointment needed. Once issued, it is transmitted by email and may be presented in digital or printed form at checkpoints.
The eVisa is accepted at all official entry points: Bahrain International Airport (in Muharraq) and the King Fahad Causeway, the road link connecting the main island to Saudi Arabia. This flexibility is particularly appreciated by business travellers who frequently travel between Gulf countries.
Approximately 72 hours after submission of a complete file. Plan ahead and submit your application several days before departure.
Tourism and business (meetings, conferences, negotiations, professional training). The eVisa does not permit working on-site.
Bahrain International Airport and the King Fahad Causeway. Entry is permitted through either of these two access points.
If you remain in the international zone without leaving the airport, no eVisa is required. Once you pass through border control, a visa is required.
02 · Eligibility
The list of nationalities eligible for the Bahrain eVisa is particularly broad. It includes all European Union nationalities as well as many countries in Africa, Asia, the Americas and Oceania. French, Belgian, Swiss and Canadian nationals have access without any particular difficulty.
Eligible nationalities also include: South Africa, Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, Brunei, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, South Korea, Ivory Coast, Cuba, Dominica, Egypt, Ecuador, United States, Gabon, Georgia, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iceland, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Liechtenstein, Macau, Malaysia, Mauritius, Morocco, Mexico, Monaco, Mozambique, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Paraguay, Peru, Qatar, Dominican Republic, United Kingdom, Russia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, San Marino, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Senegal, Seychelles, Singapore, Suriname, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, Ukraine, Uruguay, Vatican and Venezuela.
If your nationality is not on this list, you may nevertheless obtain a visa on arrival at Bahrain International Airport — with the exception of Iranian, Kosovar and North Korean nationals, for whom this option is not available. For these nationalities, it is recommended to contact the competent Bahraini embassy to identify the appropriate procedure.
03 · The options
The Bahrain eVisa is offered in three options, each corresponding to a specific use. The two long-duration options allow multiple entries, which is a notable advantage for travellers making several trips to the region.
The 14-day eVisa is the entry-level document. It authorises a single entry and is suitable for a short tourist stay or a one-off business visit. Its validity period from issuance is 14 days to make the first entry. Consular fees amount to 25 €.
The 30-day eVisa is aimed at travellers who need more flexibility. It allows multiple entries over a longer validity period, with the possibility of leaving and returning to Bahrain without reapplying for a visa. Consular fees are 40 €.
The 90-day eVisa is the most comprehensive option. With multiple entries and a maximum validity of 12 months from issuance, it is particularly suited to frequent business travellers or those wishing to enjoy an extended stay in the archipelago. Consular fees are 100 €.
of consecutive stay, regardless of the type of eVisa chosen
04 · The procedure

The Bahrain eVisa application process is entirely online and requires no physical travel. The file consists of a few basic documents, and processing takes approximately 72 hours for a complete and compliant application.
Before starting, make sure to scan or photograph your documents in colour and at a good resolution. A blurry photo or an illegible passport can delay processing or result in the application being rejected. The identity photo must comply with the 40 x 60 mm format required for Bahrain.
Select the duration of your eVisa (14, 30 or 90 days) based on your travel plan (tourism or business) and the number of entries anticipated.
Complete the application form: full identity details (surname, given name as on passport), passport number, planned entry and exit dates, address on-site and purpose of travel.
Upload a copy of your passport (photo page), your identity photo in 40 x 60 mm format, your return flight ticket (or proof of transport) and your proof of accommodation (hotel reservation or invitation).
Complete the online payment (25 €, 40 € or 100 € depending on the option chosen). A billing address and telephone number are required at this stage.
Processing time is approximately 72 hours. You will receive your eVisa by email in PDF format once the application has been approved by the Bahraini authorities.
Present your eVisa (digital or printed) at boarding and at border control upon your arrival in Bahrain. Keep it accessible throughout your trip.
05 · Extension or regularisation
It is possible to apply for an extension of stay in Bahrain when you are already on-site, provided you approach the authorities before your eVisa expires. This procedure is carried out at the General Directorate of Nationality, Passports and Residence (NPRA — Nationality, Passport & Residence Affairs), headquartered in Manama.
NPRA contact details: Road 1802, Building 4, Block 318, Manama — evisa@npra.gov.bh — Phone: (+973) 17399756.
Please note, however, that an extension is not guaranteed: the local authorities may refuse it. In the event of a refusal, you must leave Bahraini territory within the deadline given to you. Overstaying without regularisation exposes you to administrative penalties and may complicate your future visa applications for Bahrain or other destinations.
Regarding work: the Bahrain eVisa is strictly limited to tourist stays, transits and short-duration business travel. It does not under any circumstances authorise the exercise of paid professional activity on Bahraini soil. For any work assignment, a separate work permit, governed by an entirely different procedure, is required.
Yes, upon request to the NPRA in Manama, before the visa expires. Not guaranteed, at the discretion of the authorities.

Impossible to correct an already submitted application. Contact the competent Bahraini embassy or consulate for any rectification.
06 · Before you go
Obtaining your eVisa is a key step, but a thorough preparation for your stay includes several other important checks. Bahrain is a welcoming country, but it is worth finding out about local particularities before boarding.
Consular information: Before any trip abroad, consult the updated information provided by the diplomatic authorities of your country of residence. Check in particular the "Security", "Entry/Stay" and "Health" sections for Bahrain, to be aware of any restrictions or recommendations in force at the time of your departure.
Bahraini government application: The Bahrain government provides an official mobile application giving access to practical information for travellers, particularly regarding health matters. It is advisable to download it before your departure.
Travel insurance: Consider taking out assistance and repatriation insurance covering the entire duration of your stay. Good travel insurance will cover, depending on the contract chosen, medical expenses, an unforeseen extended stay, cancellations and medical repatriations. The validity period extends up to 12 months from issuance, with a maximum stay of 90 consecutive days. The 30- and 90-day options allow multiple entries — a valuable advantage for frequent travellers to the Gulf region.
