Arrival cardCambodia, land of Khmer temples and golden rice paddies, requires a visa for the vast majority of international travellers, including citizens of France, Belgium and Switzerland. The good news: the Cambodian authorities offer an electronic visa — the e-Visa — obtained entirely online, without visiting an embassy. This digital document authorises a tourist or business stay of up to 30 days, for a single entry, and remains valid for 3 months from its date of issue. Since 2024, an additional formality has been added to the process: the electronic arrival card (e-Arrival Card), mandatory for all travellers arriving by air.
01 · The essentials
Regardless of the visa applied for, your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your arrival date in Cambodia.
Since 1 July 2024, all travellers arriving by air must complete an electronic arrival card (e-Arrival Card), in addition to any visa.
Electronic visas for Cambodia (tourism and business) are obtained entirely online, without visiting an embassy.

The Cambodia e-Visa is an official electronic visa — a genuine visa, not merely a travel authorisation. It is issued by the Cambodian authorities to international travellers wishing to enter Cambodia for tourism or business purposes, for short stays not exceeding 30 days.
The procedure is entirely paperless: you provide your personal details, your travel information and a scanned copy of your passport. Once approved by Cambodian immigration services, the visa is sent to you in PDF format. It is essential to print it out and present it at eligible entry points, together with your passport.
This system was designed to simplify administrative procedures: no more long waits at the embassy, no more uncertain postal submissions. The application can be submitted in a few minutes from home, with a processing time of approximately 3 days for urgent cases.
02 · Eligibility
The Cambodian e-Visa is accessible to the vast majority of nationalities worldwide, provided they hold a passport valid for at least 6 months after the planned arrival date in Cambodia. However, a number of nationalities are not eligible for the online process and must apply to a Cambodian embassy to obtain their visa.
Nationals of the following countries are not eligible for the e-Visa and must apply through an embassy: Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria. In addition, certain ASEAN nationalities benefit from visa exemptions and therefore do not need the e-Visa.
A mandatory requirement: your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your arrival date in Cambodia. A passport expiring too soon will result in a rejection of the application or a boarding refusal.
All travellers are subject to the e-Visa process, including children and infants. Each traveller, regardless of age, must hold their own individual e-Visa.
Certain nationalities neighbouring Cambodia are exempt from visa requirements: Thailand (7 days), Brunei and Myanmar (14 days), Seychelles (15 days), Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam (30 days).
A visa is not required for a transit of less than 24 hours via Phnom Penh International Airport, provided you remain in the transit zone and are travelling with the same airline. For any other transit entry point, a Tourist e-Visa is recommended.
03 · Entry points
The Cambodian e-Visa is not valid at all borders. It can only be used at 3 international airports and 4 land border crossings specifically designated by the Cambodian authorities. It is essential to verify your planned entry point before submitting your application.
| Entry point | Type | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Phnom Penh International Airport (Techo) | Air | Open |
| Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport | Air | Open |
| Sihanoukville International Airport | Air | Open |

04 · The procedure
The e-Visa application process for Cambodia is entirely online. It takes place in a few simple steps from home, without visiting an embassy or sending any postal documents. The processing time is approximately 3 days for urgent cases. It is advisable to submit your application as soon as your trip is planned, to allow sufficient time in case of questions or additional documents required.
You fill in the online application form: personal details, information about your stay in Cambodia (purpose, planned dates, intended entry point) and contact details. The form is 100% paperless.
You attach a scanned copy of your passport (valid for at least 6 months after your arrival) and a recent passport-sized photograph in the correct format. These documents are the essential elements of the application.
Your application is checked to verify the consistency and compliance of the information provided. This preventive step helps avoid common causes of rejection (incorrect passport number, non-compliant photo, inconsistent information).
The application is submitted to Cambodian immigration services. The usual processing time is approximately 3 days. Should the authorities have additional questions, your point of contact will keep you informed.
Once the e-Visa is approved, you receive your official document in PDF format by email. It is essential to print it out before your arrival in Cambodia to present at border controls, together with your passport.
Upon arrival at one of the eligible entry points, present your printed e-Visa and your passport to immigration officers. The passport photograph on the e-Visa will allow you to be identified quickly. If the PDF document is lost before departure, a copy can be obtained by email.
05 · e-Arrival Card

Since 1 July 2024, all travellers arriving by air in Cambodia are required to complete an electronic arrival card (Cambodia e-Arrival Card, or CeA) before their arrival. This digital form permanently replaces the former paper immigration, health and customs forms that were distributed on board aircraft.
The e-Arrival Card is accessible on the official portal arrival.gov.kh or via the Cambodia e-Arrival mobile application (available on iOS and Android). The form must be submitted within the 7 days prior to your arrival. After validation, you will receive a QR code to present to immigration officers at the airport, either on your phone or in printed form.
Important note: the e-Arrival Card does not replace the visa. It is a separate formality, mandatory in addition to your e-Visa or Visa on Arrival. The data collected relates to immigration, health and customs, with the aim of facilitating passage at air borders.
All travellers arriving by air, regardless of nationality, including Cambodian nationals. Each traveller must complete their own declaration, including children and infants (an adult may complete the form on behalf of minors).
Phnom Penh International Airport (Techo International Airport), Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport, Sihanoukville International Airport. Arrivals by land or sea are not yet concerned.
The form must be completed and submitted within the 7 days prior to your arrival in Cambodia. Do not delay completing this formality to avoid any last-minute stress.
When the application is made as a group, a single QR code is generated for all travellers in the group. Keep this QR code accessible for presentation at the airport.
06 · Before you go
Beyond the entry formalities, a successful stay in Cambodia requires some practical preparation. The country, with its tropical climate, is best enjoyed during the dry season, between January and April, the ideal period to explore the Angkor temples, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the rice-paddy landscapes stretching as far as the eye can see. French, Belgian and Swiss nationals planning a trip to Southeast Asia will find in Cambodia a destination that is both accessible and hypnotic.
For stays exceeding 30 days, the e-Visa is not sufficient. It is possible to apply for an extension in the country, by visiting the Department of Immigration in Phnom Penh (332 Russian Federation Boulevard). For long-stay projects, a class E visa is available depending on the purpose: retirement (ER), studies (ES) or long-term business (EB). These visas are obtained from the Cambodian embassy — in the UK, you should contact the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in your country.
The Cambodian e-Visa is an official electronic visa — distinct from a simple travel authorisation — which allows international travellers to enter Cambodia for a stay of up to 30 days, single entry, for tourism or business purposes. It is valid for 90 days from its date of issue. The process is entirely online, with an estimated processing time of approximately 3 days. From 2024, the Cambodia e-Arrival Card is a mandatory additional formality for all travellers arriving by air: these two processes are independent and must be completed separately. Always print your PDF e-Visa before departure.
