Arrival cardSingapore is one of Asia's most welcoming destinations for European travellers: no visa is required for tourist stays of less than 90 days. However, one digital formality remains mandatory before any border crossing: the SG Arrival Card (SGAC), an electronic arrival and health declaration introduced by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA). This online form must be submitted within the three days preceding arrival in Singapore — without exception and regardless of the traveller's nationality.
01 · The essentials
A passport valid for at least 6 months after the departure date from Singapore is required of all travellers, without exception.
The process is carried out entirely online and no printing is necessary: the confirmation is electronically linked to the passport.
Simple declaratory form, with no supporting document required beyond the passport; confirmation is received by email after submission.
The SG Arrival Card is the electronic version of the former paper disembarkation/embarkation card that travellers had to fill in on board the aircraft before landing in Singapore. The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) replaced it with this digital form, which centralises two essential functions:
Once your declaration has been validated, you will receive a confirmation by email. Upon arrival, you simply present your passport to the ICA officer. The SGAC is electronically linked to your passport: no printing is required.
02 · Who is concerned
Unlike a visa, which only concerns certain nationalities, the SG Arrival Card is a universal obligation: all travellers entering Singapore must submit it, regardless of their nationality or residency status. The only exception: travellers in transit who remain in the airside zone of Changi Airport without going through immigration controls.
| Category of traveller | SGAC mandatory? |
|---|---|
| Tourists and foreign visitors | Yes |
| Singaporean citizens | Yes (except land entry Woodlands/Tuas) |
| Singapore permanent residents | Yes (except land entry Woodlands/Tuas) |
| Long-Term Pass holders (Student's Pass, Work Pass, etc.) | Yes (except land entry Woodlands/Tuas) |
| Travellers in transit without going through immigration | No |

Every traveller, regardless of age, must have their own SG Arrival Card. For minor children, the declaration can be completed by a parent or accompanying person via the 'Group Submission' feature.
The SGAC is required regardless of the purpose of the stay: tourism, business, conference, studies, visiting relatives, medical care, religious event or other.
If your health status changes between submission and your arrival, you can use the 'Update SGAC' feature to update your health declaration. Personal and flight information, however, cannot be modified: a new declaration will need to be submitted.
The 'Group Submission' feature allows a declaration to be submitted for several travellers making the same journey (family, group travelling together). A single account holder can group multiple members in a single submission.
03 · The procedure
Before you start, prepare your passport (name, date of birth, nationality, passport number), your flight details (flight number or vessel name, arrival date, city and country of departure) as well as your accommodation address in Singapore (hotel, accommodation with relatives, residence).
Two official channels are provided by the ICA: the SGAC e-Service accessible from a web browser, and the MyICA Mobile application (free on iOS and Android). The official forms are exclusively in English. Travellers who prefer to complete the process in their own language can use a specialised service offering a translated form.
Complete the personal information, travel data and health declaration (current state of health, history of recent travel to at-risk areas, contact with sick persons in the preceding 14 days). Check each item of information carefully: any inaccuracy may cause complications at immigration.
After submission, you will receive a confirmation by email. This confirmation proves that your declaration has been properly recorded. Keep it in your inbox or download it to your mobile device — no printing is required, as the SGAC is electronically linked to your passport.
Simply present your passport to the ICA officer at the immigration control post. The SG Arrival Card will be verified electronically. You will also need to provide your biometric data (fingerprints, facial recognition and iris scan) — a quick and systematic procedure for all international travellers.
04 · Required information
The SG Arrival Card form is divided into three main categories of information. Understanding what will be asked of you in advance allows you to complete the declaration quickly and without errors.
05 · Entry conditions
Beyond the SG Arrival Card, entry into Singapore is subject to additional conditions depending on your nationality. The good news: the vast majority of European nationals benefit from a visa exemption for tourist stays.
A Social Visit Pass is issued free of charge on arrival by the ICA officer. The authorised length of stay varies by nationality: nationals of the European Union (including France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Spain), Switzerland, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea benefit from a visa-free stay of 90 days. Other exempt nationalities benefit from 14 to 90 days depending on their country. Nationalities subject to a visa requirement must obtain a visa before departure.
Overstaying the authorised period is punishable by a fine or even a ban from the territory. Check your situation on the official ICA website before your departure.
06 · Transit & layover
Singapore is one of the main aviation hubs in Southeast Asia. Changi International Airport welcomes millions of connecting travellers every year, thanks to its connections across all of Asia, Oceania and beyond. The applicable rules vary depending on whether you remain in the transit zone or pass through immigration controls.
If you remain in the transit zone of Changi Airport without going through immigration controls — direct connection with baggage checked through to the final destination — you need neither a visa nor a SG Arrival Card.
If you need to leave the transit zone (baggage collection, terminal change, city visit during a long layover), you will need to pass through Singaporean immigration controls, complete the SG Arrival Card beforehand, and hold a passport valid for 6 months.
If your nationality is visa-exempt (see previous section), no additional steps are necessary to exit the transit zone. You automatically benefit from the exemption.
For nationalities subject to a visa requirement, Singapore offers a 96-hour visa-free transit programme (Visa-Free Transit Facility) subject to strict conditions: confirmed onward ticket, transit by air, limited stay. Consult the ICA website to check your eligibility.
The SG Arrival Card is a simple, quick and free formality, but one that is unavoidable for any traveller going to Singapore. It does not replace a visa and is not its equivalent: it is a digital arrival and health declaration. Submit it within the 3 days before your arrival, check that your passport is valid for 6 months and in good condition, and prepare your accommodation address in Singapore before starting the form. The process remains accessible to all travellers, provided you do it in advance and enter accurate information.
