Contrary to information relayed by certain sources or travellers' Facebook groups, the Seychelles authorities have confirmed to our agency that electronic travel authorization (ETA) remains mandatory for all travelersincluding those in transit cruising through the archipelago.

This clarification puts an end to the uncertainties caused by negotiations between cruise lines and local authorities. The entry rules recently introduced in Seychelles therefore continue to apply without exception..
Background: The introduction of ETA for sea arrivals
Since November 5, 2024, Seychelles requires an ETA for all travelers, regardless of their mode of arrival, including cruise passengers. This measure aims to reinforce security and better manage the growing influx of tourists to the archipelago.
The ETA, available online at a cost of โฌ10 (standard processing in 24 hours), must be obtained no earlier than 30 days before the scheduled arrival date.
A strict rule for all types of travel
Contrary to expectations, there are no exemptions for cruise passengers in transit. This includes short stopovers. The Seychelles authorities have insisted that all travellers must present a valid ETA when they enter the country, even if they only stay a few hours.
Travelers starting their cruise in Seychelles or staying there must also comply with this requirement.
