Why the increase, and who is really affected?

Thailand is adjusting its administrative costs to support the modernization of its consular infrastructure. While this tariff update specifically targets requests processed in India, It is a strong indicator of the global trend of rising immigration costs to Thailand for non-OECD countries.

Indian nationals currently benefit from a visa-free regime for short-stay tourism. The new fee structure therefore applies exclusively to travellers requiring a visa stamped on the passport, whether for specific stays, multiple-entry visas or expatriation.
