Activity resumes for select airlines as European countries ease lockdowns

Corsair, Singapore Airlines, United, ASL Airlines, and Brussels Airlines resume operations with varied schedules as Europe reopens.

As several European countries press ahead with easing lockdown measures, airlines are gradually restarting services. The recovery is slow but steady, with carriers around the globe returning to the skies. Below is an update on some of the airlines resuming operations:

Corsair resumes flights on 18 June

Pending the evolution of the health situation and government approvals, Corsair has announced that it will restart selected services. Flights will operate from Charles de Gaulle Airport, with the initial schedule connecting to France’s overseas departments and territories.

Corsair also aims to resume routes to select international destinations—such as Abidjan, Montreal, and Mauritius—as soon as possible. However, services to the United States are not expected to restart in the near term due to ongoing health concerns.

Singapore Airlines and United restart operations in July

The pandemic brought global aviation to a near standstill. Both Singapore Airlines and United have now set July as the month to resume flights. Singapore Airlines plans to begin with Barcelona, Amsterdam, Adelaide, Auckland, and Melbourne. United will scale up progressively, focusing on destinations including Hong Kong, Singapore, Seoul, Munich, Brussels, London, and Tokyo.

ASL Airlines returns to Paris–Pau route from 10 June

ASL Airlines will operate four weekly flights between Pau and Paris Charles de Gaulle, beginning 10 June with Boeing 737 aircraft configured for 147 passengers. Safety remains a priority: all flights will adhere to French government health protocols. The schedule is set as follows: one inbound flight (CDG–Pau) on Monday; outbound flights (Pau–CDG) on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; corresponding return flights on the same days; plus a late Friday departure (Pau–CDG) at 18:30.

Brussels Airlines restarts commercial flights on 15 June

After a 12-week pause, Brussels Airlines will resume commercial operations on 15 June, targeting 59 destinations across Europe, Africa, and the Americas. The summer schedule will initially be pared back but will scale up to 59 routes by 31 August. In total, services will serve 33 countries, depending on demand and government restrictions in each market.
