Belarus will soon introduce an e-Visa for travelers

Belarus is set to launch electronic visas from Q3 2022, streamlining short-stay entry for tourists and business travelers via an online portal.

Foreign tourists can now obtain e-visas to enter Belarus. The announcement was made by the National Center of Electronic Services during the 28th International ICT Forum. Here’s everything you need to know.

Belarus’s National Center of Electronic Services adopts electronic visas

The NCES (National Center of Electronic Services) announced the launch of its e-visa issuance service at the 28th edition of the TIBO 2022 forum in Minsk.

The e-visa service will become available from Q3 2022, in line with the action plan under the e-visa project. This decision was approved by the working group tasked with drafting the proposal for the electronic visa system.

Automating short-term single-entry visa processing

Foreign nationals will soon be able to apply for short-term single-entry “C” visas through an automated system. As confirmed by experts at Belarus’s National Center of Electronic Services, tourists can apply online via a dedicated electronic services portal and pay through the ASSIST system using a Visa or Mastercard debit card.

Once the application is validated, the e-visa will be sent to the applicant’s personal account. Travelers must then download it from the official service website to present upon arrival at the Belarusian border.

Which e-visa types are available?

Few details have been released about Belarus’s e-visa system, but we know that “C” visa applicants will soon be able to apply online. Single, double, and multiple-entry visas are currently permitted and valid for up to three months. Note, however, that an e-visa allows only one entry.

Short-term “C” visas are valid for tourism, business, scientific, cultural, or other approved purposes.

Meanwhile, French and European travelers can visit Belarus without a visa for up to 30 days. Entry and exit must be through the airports of Minsk, Brest, Vitebsk, Gomel, Grodno, or Mogilev. Travelers must not arrive from Russia or continue directly to Russia after leaving Belarus. More details about the new e-visa are expected in the coming weeks.

Covid-19 travel restrictions in Belarus

As of April 3, 2022, there are no entry or exit restrictions for Belarusian citizens or foreign travelers. Since May 28, 2022, PCR tests or proof of vaccination are no longer required. As a result, international visitors may enter Belarus without pre-departure testing or vaccination.
