Nepal: after a test, the electronic visa is officially launched

After a test phase, Nepal has officially launched its electronic visa system. The government's main objective is to attract more tourists by facilitating travel formalities.

Thanks to this new service, customers will no longer need to physically go to the immigration office or queue at airports to obtain their visa. Until now, only the Nepalese embassies at USA๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ and Allemagne๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช could issue e-Visas in place of the sticker in the passport.

A simplified visa process

With the introduction of e-Visa (or rather eTA here), the Nepalese authorities are hoping to attract a growing number of international visitors to the country. The introduction of an online payment system for visa services will also enable customers to save time and reduce the number of administrative steps previously required to obtain a Nepalese visa.

Technological innovations to enhance the user experience

In terms of validity, count on a maximum of 15 (30 USD), 30 (50 USD) or 90 days (125 USD) in Nepal. Virtually all nationalities are eligible, including Westerners..

By developing this online systemNepal has made significant progress in modernizing its consular services. Travellers interested in visiting this Himalayan country will now be able to complete all the necessary formalities in just a few clicks, from the comfort of their own homes.

Even though the e-visa service has officially been launched, not yet available internationally. Tourists are therefore still required to apply for it in advance at the embassy or on arrival in Nepal. However, the Nepalese authorities plan to roll it out progressively in other countries, helping to reinforce Nepal's image as a welcoming, modern tourist destination.
