The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has taken an important step in its digital development with the announcement of the forthcoming launch of an integrated electronic visa management platform. This initiative will enable anyone wishing to visit the DRC to submit their application quickly and easily from anywhere in the world.
An innovative technological solution to simplify administrative procedures
Désiré Casimir Eberande Kolongele, Minister of Digital Affairs, announced this excellent news at the 115th Council of Ministers meeting chaired by the Head of State, Félix Tshisekedi. In his view, this modern platform will not only facilitate access to the country for foreign visitors, but also reinforce security and risk management measures.
The advantages of this technological solution include

- Fast, automated processing of files thanks to 61 diplomatic missions and consular posts around the world,
- Better coordination between the various ministries involved in issuing visas, notably the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, the Interior, Security and Customary Affairs,
- Improved tracking and tracing of visa application files.
Digital infrastructure modernization in the DRC
The launch of this platform comes at a time when digital infrastructures in the Democratic Republic of Congo are being modernized. It has to be said that the country is still lagging behind in this area, notably due to the deplorable state of the equipment belonging to LOCOSEM, a subsidiary of Semlex, the operator previously responsible for visas. This situation prompted Minister Eberande Kolongele to ask the government to support the President's desire to introduce an electronic visa system for the country.

Technically, the Democratic Republic of Congo already has an e-Visa that is rather original and highly impractical for several reasons:

- If the initial approach is electronic, the need to finalize the process on arrival removes all its advantages
