UAE Removes Visa for Armenian Travellers from February 2024
From February 1, 2024, Armenian passport holders will no longer need a visa to visit the United Arab Emirates, with reciprocal travel now also allowed for UAE citizens entering Armenia.
Starting February 1, 2024, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will no longer require entry visas for citizens of the Republic of Armenia. The two delegations met in mid-January in Armenia, where both nations are considered major economic partners.
Reciprocal Visa Exemption for Key Partners
According to Ani Badalyan, spokesperson for the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the agreement to mutually eliminate visa requirements for citizens of Armenia and the UAE will take effect on February 1, 2024. Travellers need only note the validity period shown on pages 2 and 3 of their passport; the earlier requirement regarding validity in foreign countries on page 4 no longer applies or is mandatory as of January 1, 2024.
In Brief
Armenian citizens can now enter, exit and transit through the UAE without needing a visa or paying related fees.
Armenian travellers may stay in the UAE for up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
Passports must remain valid for at least six months from the date of arrival.
The decision is reciprocal, allowing UAE citizens to travel to Armenia under identical visa-exempt conditions: up to 90 days within any 180-day period during any calendar year.
Sisian Boghossian, head of Armenia’s Tourism Committee, welcomed the announcement and hopes other countries will follow suit, which could unlock further tourism opportunities.
