Visamundi and TourMag launch a new travel industry barometer

Visamundi partners with TourMag to create a barometer tracking the evolution of travel industry professionals' roles and client expectations in a post-Covid landscape, addressing challenges in visas, logistics, and service adaptation.

The Visamundi team has partnered with TourMag, a well-known name in the tourism world, to launch a new barometer dedicated to travel professionals!

March 2020. International border closures, total travel shutdowns, grounded airplanes, lockdowns, suspended tourism activity, long periods of waiting, and cautious optimism.

Two springs later, how far have we come? What has changed since then?
We’ve already heard the message: travelers have adjusted their spending habits, but *how much*? What about the way travel agencies and tour operators manage operations in a post-Covid era? Not to mention, health regulations have by no means disappeared. So, as tourism professionals, how do you adapt to this shifting landscape and continue delivering a high-quality service to your clients?

The purpose of this survey is to gather insights from professionals about how their roles have evolved and what their clients' new expectations are in a post-Covid world.

Back in March 2020, the tourism sector faced sudden disruption: closed borders, grounded aircraft, and tourism activity at a standstill, demanding patience from all. Two years on, the scene has transformed completely. While the desire to travel remains strong, the rules of the game—and the customer experience—have shifted dramatically. Professionals now face complex administrative hurdles, shifting client expectations, and logistical challenges. To decode this new reality, we are launching an exclusive barometer for tourism experts—one that puts the spotlight on today’s pressing questions and real-world challenges.

This survey aims to collect firsthand accounts from those on the ground about how their jobs have transformed since the pandemic. The new normal for agencies and operators now includes persistent challenges, especially around administration. According to our findings, nearly half of professionals report concrete difficulties when applying for visas on behalf of clients. Basic communication with official bodies remains a major obstacle: one in two struggles to reach consulates, and a quarter faces delays or complications in responses.

The vital task now is to examine how these hurdles affect service quality. For travelers, the situation isn’t any easier. One in two feels overwhelmed by the growing number of documents required, while the same proportion cite excessively long processing times. Location remains a barrier: one-third of travelers find visa processing centers too far from home. These early insights reveal that expert support is more essential than ever—not only to save time, but to overcome language barriers and uncertainty.

By participating in this survey, professionals help shape the vision of the post-pandemic travel agency—one no longer focused solely on selling a destination, but on securing a now-riskier customer journey. Your responses will be vital in identifying growth opportunities and innovative solutions that finally bring much-needed clarity and relief to both travelers and those who guide them.
